I'm looking for an online game that is fairly popular or at least no dying, where there is something else to do other than killing mobs and fighting other players. I'm interested in a game where crafting, trading, mining and other non pve/pvp activities actually matter.

Here's a list of games I already tried and didn't like:

Revelation, Archerage, Blade and Soul, Warframe, PWI, Skyforge, GW2, Rift, DC Universe online, Mu Legend, Drakensang, Secret World Legends, AdventureQuest 3D, Mortal online, Creativerse, Cabal, Riders of Icarus, Vindictus, Ever Quest 2, Age of Wushu, Allods, Hearthstone.

EVE or Elite: Dangerous. Both can be enjoyed without ever engaging with the combat if you choose.

@meteora3255: I tired EVE but it's impossible for me to get into that game. Will look into the other game. Thanks for the recommendations.

@j3ke7zt: Elite is a more action focused game compared to EVE.

Elder Scrolls Online is pretty hot right now and has the above, but requires killing mobs and doing quests. Elite Dangerous is also a good choice for chilling/podcasts.

@shivermetimbers:I've never tried Elder Scrolls Online, can you tell me a few things about crafting, gathering and trading? How important is crafting? How do you obtain crafting materials? Is gathering plants or mining relevant? How about trading? Is it possible to make money just by buying and selling items?

I'd say it's more based around questing than trading/crafting. Elite seems more up your alley for what you're looking for. You really have to pay a subscription fee in order to get into crafting in ESO due to the limit you'd have otherwise on crafting materials.

You might want to check out Ark, since you'll have building and exploring to do.

@j3ke7zt: I genuinely think that nobody should play "online games" of the massive variety because of their structure, monetization and operating principle. However they did manage to make collecting/side activities "matter" by turning it into an aggregate score, which is like XP on drugs. The economy of these games is always fake and disappointing, but it's a way to make something matter. I think building, including game content is an avenue that is still very much under-utilized, I would like to hear about games that have player created content (like missions or dungeons), not just as a freak show on the side, but actually incorporate it.
