I have quite a few, Eve Online, Minecraft, Saints Row 3, GTA IV, most open games really. But I also like running through Metal Slug X once in a while. And Civ V is a recurring addiction of mine.

Right now it's Crusader Kings 2. It's a mechanic-rich game, but if you aren't trying to min-max things, you can just crank up the speed and watch the years go by while you wait for claims to be fabricated. Time just melts away when I play that game.

TF2. It's got the right combination of skill and variety to allow me to zone out (with certain classes at least)

Not sure if you are kidding or not, but one of my "comfort games" ended up being this. Sometimes I just drive a fucking truck around the country side and its awesome.

I am being 100% honest. I bought a racing wheel and everything.

Half of Doom episode 1 or a few levels of Doom 2. Brutal Doom is especially satisfying because of how crazy it is

Yeah, Doom 1 episode 1 is fantastic, that's also something I often start up every now and then, as well as those two Duke3D levels. I'm not much of a Doom 2 fan though, but I occasionally boot up the first level and chainsaw dudes for a while.

I just realised the answer to this might be Dustforce. I've been playing a lot of it since the speedrun.

Beaten it countless times as a kid. Whenever something terrible happens I switch it on and play.

If I have podcasts to listen to or just feel like playing something not too complicated. Bejeweled 3 and Spelunky comes to mind. Just turn them on, mute the TV, and just zone out for however long the podcasts are.

Battlefield 3 I guess, i've put 500hrs into it so I can hop into any multiplayer match and generally end up in the top 3, at this point more so than any multi player game ive played it all comes very naturally. I go through periods still of really loving the game and others of just getting a little tired of it since i've played it so much. Excellent game, saying that the new one hasn't won me over yet, looks like too much of the same, should have been BF2143 but maybe that will come as DLC further down the line.

Symphony of the Night, Dark Souls, Minecraft. Basically anything grindy that still takes a bit of creativity.

@benspyda: NOICE MATE! :D I've got a strength and faith build as well (he uses pyromancy occasionally too). Making builds for PVP is always fun. This int/dex build isn't even done yet and I'm already owning people online. :D
