What was the first game you played online?

Quake.

I played come co-op doom over dial up. The first online game I really got into was Air Warrior back in the AOL days.

Rainbow Six 3 on PS2. I sucked at it big time too, being like 12-13 years old at the time.

Probably counter strike iirc. Was too young though and wasn't good at it at all, so I mostly stuck to playing against bots.

Warcraft III custom maps.

Back when it was acceptible to be awful at DOTA because everyone was awful at DOTA, and would rather just play tower defense or angel arena maps anyway.

Duke Nukem

The original Rainbow Six for PC.

The earliest I can remember was Rainbow Six (1998) on PC, but I know there was something earlier I played. That's a long time ago so it's hard to remember. :-) First online console game was Halo 2 for me. It was the first console game to do online correctly and set the standard for all future console games.

My very first online experience was fairly recent with Super Street Fighter IV. I did not play many PC games when I was younger and was late to purchase a PS3.

The original Command and Conquer. It was a total mess to get that working.

Phantasy Star Online. Oh the months lost to it. But I regret nothing.

I honestly can't remember. I think it was probably Quake 3 on my Dreamcast, as Dreamcast was my first experiences with getting to play games online with other people. Man did it drive my parents nuts taking over the phone line to play my games. They had to get a second phone line because it was impossible to call home after 3:30pm because that's when I got home from school and I was never not online once I got home. Man do I ever remember the fights we had over them wanting to use the phone in the middle of huge dungeon raids in PSO or in the middle of amazing kill streaks in Quake 3.

Good times.

Mechwarrior 3. I had a Shadowcat that was rigged completely with machine guns.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

Quake Rocket Arena. I played it over my 56k connection back in '98 for months.

You mean SOCOM on the PS2? There wasn't a SOCOM on the PS1, nor did it have a network adapter that I'm aware of.

Quake or Half-Life was probably first. Diablo 2 and Counter-strike was easily the ones I spent the most time in though.

The first game I played online was Perfect Dark Zero. I set up my internet for gaming a few weeks before the 360 came out but didn't hook it up and sign up for XBL till I got my 360.

Rise of The Triad, PC, early to mid 90's on a 486-SX 33mhz with 8mb of RAM.

Age of Empires II.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.

It was on Oct. 24, 2009. I know for a fact because I got my first online trophy for MK vs DCU that day.

TFC or HL Death Match I think in 98? it then became heavy Diablo 2 and Counter-Strike from then on out though.

Halo 2 on the PC. I never really liked multiplayer before that. With the obvious exception of Goldeneye 007 on the N64, but that wasn't online....

generally, i have no interest in multiplayer. i think the first i played was AC: Brotherhood in order to get some achievements. since then, i think i have only played AC: Revelations and ME3 multiplayer. didn't particularly like any of those experiences.

Counterstrike. Which I also played earlier tonight.

Counter Strike on PC

It's a bit fuzzy. But i'm pretty sure it was Half-Life on one of these!

Probably the first Command & Conquer. Might've been Doom II, though.

Madden 2004(?) on the PS2. (I think 2004 was the first Madden game to go online.)

Halo 3

Either the first C&C or Red Alert.

The first game I played online on a PC was the first Unreal Tournament.

On Console it was Killzone for the PS2.

Doom 2, but nothing comes close to the memories I have playing Unreal Tournament Online.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 for the PC. I had just got broadband. I was scared to death of playing, but it was fun. That's where I learned what lol meant.

Age of Empires when Microsoft still had their "Zone" service. I realized how much I sucked at strategy games after that.

Warcraft III custom maps.

Gloriously terrible Dragon Ball Z arenas and the like.

MvC 3, before that, Beautiful Katamari, before that, Burnout Revenge, before that, Gears of War 1.

Oh yeah, Final Fantasy XI for a brief moment, also, PSO on Dreamcast.

OH!!!!! FIRST GAME!!!!? My bad, PSO on Dreamcast was the first and most fun I ever had playing an online game.

Call of Duty 2

Doom 2 for me. Played it on a 14.4kbps dial-up modem on a good ole' 486. Shortly after Duke Nukem. Was great time playing with friends. Also Warcraft 2 :)

Diablo 1

I don't remember.... Quake 3? Wc3? CS? Halo? I can't even remember.

I did the same thing in my families office to play socom 2. It was totally worth it though.

Unreal Tournament. It's still the most fun I've ever had with an online multiplayer shooter. There's something supremely satisfying about getting headshots with your sniper rifle while jumping in low gravity.

One Must Fall 2097. Played over an IPX Connection.

Heck yeah, fighting Robots/Mechsuits piloted by your mind.

It was probably Jedi Outcast, but I'm not sure. Maybe the Halo: CE demo? Now that I think back, I honestly can't remember.
