When I was a kid i got fooled into having my parents buy me a disc with 1001 games on it (or something like that).  They didn't really let you know that they were all demos, shareware and freeware but I enjoyed it nonetheless.  Some of my favorite demos on there were Electroman, Jazz Jackrabbit, One Must Fall and a slew of other Epic titles.  I have to say that by far my favorite demo of all time has to the one for DOOM.  It's basically the entire game but they don't give you all the guns and enemies.  I never actually bought the full game but i beat the demo about 800 times. What is your favorite demo game?

Halo CE for the PC and BF2. I believe there's still servers up for these two demos.

Probably the demo for Just Cause 2. On PC, I just grabbed the BoloPatch, and it's all I needed out of that one. Wasn't any better than the full game, IMO.

  The Red Faction : Guerilla multiplayer demo was tons of fun. Too bad that game never really took off.

I liked the demo of Shadow Complex. I think everyone liked it considering the bug that allowed you to play the entire game. However, I liked it for the fact it was a unique experience. I've never played a game like Shadow Complex on my Xbox 360 before. I also liked the demo for Medal of Honor: Airborne. As it is, it's the only game demo I ever played through five times. I just found it really addictive... and I wound up getting the game a few days later.

The Longest Journey. They picked a full chapter, one with some nice puzzles, a funny dialogue tree and that didn't spoil much of the story to serve as a demo. I loved, bought the full game that is still one of my favorites of all time.

@s10129107:
I remember that that game had one of the biggest installations I'd ever experienced.  At the time, it was a huge game.  I don't remember how long the process took, but I remember leaving my dorm room, going somewhere, and coming back to see it was still installing.  My friend and I lovingly referred to it afterwards as The Longest Install.

Just Cause 2 and Arkham Aslyum . I never would have even considered looking at those great games before I played the demo. Especially Arkham which was a license after all.

Every now and then, a demo just grabs me and I play the shit out of it...

  • Mirror's Edge
  • Battlefield Bad Company 2
  • Bionic Commando (such a shame about the full game)

Crackdown 1.  It made me buy the game.   Really, I spent more time playing the Crackdown demo than I did playing the Halo 3 beta which came on Crackdown.
