This forum?
I'm waiting for programmers to realize water better, that and A.I.
and HAIR.
I was thinking about this a few days ago, though I was thinking more way out. Like, in 2200, will people still be playing Mario on their Nintendo system? Kind of doubt it, but wouldn't that be awesome?
Poker & Chess have been around for ages, & people still play them.I was thinking about this a few days ago, though I was thinking more way out. Like, in 2200, will people still be playing Mario on their Nintendo system? Kind of doubt it, but wouldn't that be awesome?

Exactly like crysis 1 on very high settings. Bigger levels, photorealistic and better physics. Maybe 3d will be the standard and resolution will be higher. But no more semi realistic art design bullshit, they have the power for realism and virtual reality. Hopefully we won't get more kinect kind of motion controls. Hopefully we won't get some onlive shit.
When i think about what the future of gaming will be like, it makes me think twice about whether spending 2k dollars on a new gaming PC is worth itFor chess, probably a King who collects decapitated heads.

When i think about what the future of gaming will be like, it makes me think twice about whether spending 2k dollars on a new gaming PC is worth itSpending 2k on a gaming PC has never been worth it though because unless you are running some crazy multiple monitor / 3Dvision setup you can max out 99% of games on a PC half that price, possibly even cheaper.
I think this has always been the case pretty much, if you build your own and remember that a good PC benefits you in more ways than just being better for gaming the price doesn't seem half bad

But.. show me where i can get i5 2500K, GTX 580, quality Asus MOBO, quality 850W PSU, 40GB SSD and a badass gaming case for "half that price" ?
Gaming in ten years will all be digital sales and games will be cheaper(even triple A titles). You will buy the core game and then pay for the features you want to save on everyone using up hard drive space and bandwidth on tacked on features they wont use.
@xobballox said:Yeah, but those are not franchises owned by a corporation. (Unless they are, in which case excuse my ignorance) I imagine eventually Nintendo would screw up at some point and someone comes along with something way better than them and they go out of business. But it would be pretty awesome if people still played Mario in 2200. Brick and mortar stores are conquered.
The used , rental, and lending to your friends markets are crushed.
Digital distribution becomes the only way to buy games.
Sales and price drops become a thing of the past for all but the shittiest and most outdated of games.
The gaming community's greatest friends (Valve/Steam, GoG, etc) becomes their greatest enemies despite being willingly handed the keys to the kingdom.
After staunchly standing behind all the "Support The Industry" publisher propaganda, gamers sit there, with empty pockets, asking themselves "What went wrong?"
...mark my words ;)
