What's that video effect in games that is seen in Alien Isolation and Kane & Lynch 2? Or Something Like That...

Maybe I am thinking of the wrong thing. My two examples are Alien Isolation and Kane & Lynch 2. I know those are going for a VHS-video type of look. What I'm trying to remember is the effect that I've also seen as a video setting in some games. I know it's not color banding. This is frustrating! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I think you might be thinking of chromatic aberration? Both Alien Isolation and especially Kane and Lynch 2 have a couple things going on to simulate being shot on film though, so I'm not sure it's any one thing but rather a suite of effects.
