So I'm at a friend's house and we are playing Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence on his old PS2, he barely touches this thing and we have no memory card so we are just leaving it on until we beat the game. So far it's been on for 13 hours and we are at the end of The Pain.
But I am wondering, how long can I probably keep this PS2 on and how long have you kept a console on? What's your record?
Here's mine:
SNES: 10 hours
Gamecube: 32 hours
PS2: I think 2 days, can't remember
N DS: 3 days
Xbox 360 (borrowed it from a friend): 18 hours
PS3: 40 hours
PC: 1 week
Let's see some numbers!
What's the longest you've left your console or PC on?
My PC has been on for been on consistently for the last 6 months, at least. Enable hibernate and have the hdd's go to sleep if they are not in use for 30 minutes, you are good to go. That is probably why my electricity bills are raping me lately :(
My latest 360 has never been on more then 2 hours in a row. A million 3rods makes you pretty fucking paranoid.
Other than my PC, which is on constantly. I left my N64 on for 5 days since I didn't have a controller pak for Quest 64.
Oh, and I left a friend's DS on for a week because I wanted to shatter his record on a SM64DS minigame.
I try not to keep my Xbox 360 on for more than a few hours but I am sure I have gotten up to about 7 hours with it on. My PC has been on for many, many days (probably about a week or more) and my Gamecube has been on for about a week as well. I am sure my PS2 has a similar statistic and the Wii and PS3 are probably only a few hours honestly.
Hmm....I wish I knew if there was a feature that told you when your last update was. That's the only way I can remember the last time my computer turned itself off against my will.
I left my SNES on overnight once to see if it would help my Sim City population
I've left my 360 on overnight when downloading things or when recovering my gamertag
I've left my PC on for days for many reasons, downloading stuff, Everquest bazaar, just leaving it on... I've left my new PC on overnight twice already to defrag. Don't know what the max is, but it's probably not more than a week, if that
I basically leave my laptop on all the time. I killed my battery doing that though, if I unplug it the batter will die in less than five minutes. The only reason I've turned off my laptop in the last month was because I went on vacation, but before that It had been on since last February, because that was the last time I was out of town. It's probably not good for it, but whatever. I think of it like a refrigerator.
But my consoles are usually always off unless I'm playing a game. If I play Fallout 3 for 6 hours than my 360 will have been on for 6 hours.
My PC is only almost all the time except for quick reboots. Recently, I gone from playing P4 for 6-8 hours to watching videos streamed from my computer on my PS3 and that must have been 12 or 13 hours total...and then I fell asleep while it was on so the number was probably closer to 18 hours.
Even though I love the system and many of the games available for it, if my 360 was running for 18 hours I'm afraid it would melt or explode (maybe both). Too bad, cause I used to leave my original Xbox on for days at a time with no problem.
I only turn off my pc to restart it. I dont understand why people turn off there pc's. They are designed to stay on.
PC has been on for months now, my PS1 was my longest which was on for a week due to the lack of a memory card.
I have my wii at my dads house, and I didnt notice it was on (and didnt check), long story short, 2 months.
I never really have my computer on for more than 2 days, its kinda loud and my case has lots of blue LEDs so it lights up my room at night.
I turn off anything I'm not using usually, if I'm downloading something big though I'll probably leave the console/PC on for a good 8 hours or so before turning it off for an hour and giving it a rest.
Did I mention I make up half of my Dad's electricity bills?
Used to have a laptop that never turned off, just hibernated.
My current PC stays on for weeks at a time, usually only gets turned off so i can give it a quick dusting out. Dosnt even hibernate or go into standby, just stays on forever.
Left my 360 on for atleast 3 days once, didnt realise it was still on.
My PC is rarely, if ever turned off. For my ps2, it was about a week. There was a period of time that I didn't have a memory card for it and played through ratchet and clank 2 by just pausing the game when I wasn't playing. For my 360, it was 2 days to get the Dead rising achievements for surviving 3/5/7 days on infinite mode.
Other than when I had all night video game parties(which are always a blast), I have never had a console on for more than a few hours at a time. My old PC(which was the better part of a decade old) on the other hand, would be constantly on for months before I would reboot it. That has changed since I got my new laptop back in last September, though. I always turn it off when I go to bed. I have invested $1,700 in this thing and I don't want to mess with it by constantly leaving it on.
