What's The Most Angriest Fanbase You've Ever Seen?

The Giant Bomb fanbase. Try criticizing the site's content/the bombcast and get destroyed by fanboys.
...HALF joking.
TAKE IT BACK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess Star Wars fanbase? Their anger was most impressive. As far as gaming, I dunno.
Probably the Fallout fanbase when they heard that Bethesda was making Fallout 3 an Elder Scrolls-like RPG. I remember they were really irate over the switch from an isometric perspective to first/third person.
The Diablo 2 fans were also livid over the "WoW-esque" look of Diablo 3. I liked how the Blizzard team released later released screenshots of D3 with unicorns puking rainbows.

That's a double superlative. Use either most angry or angriest. I just wanted to point it out since I learnt what it means. :p
......Grammar fanboys. Their the most angriest.
They're probably the most passive aggressive, online and off.
But in the world of gaming I have to give it to... just about everybody. WoW fans are crazy if youtube is any proof, Call of Duty fans have a lot of unchecked pre-pubescent rage and racism, Bioware fans might have had the most justification for their anger but now just look like crazed serial-killers-to-be, and Final Fantasy fans are just starting to realize how bad the series has got in the last decade, barring 12 which I'm convinced was some kind of weird and amazing accident.
Possibly, but for the record I was just proud of myself for remembering what a double superlative was.

Sonic fans... easily. In fact. I have an awesome thing for you guys to do. Write down your first name on google and put "the hedgehog" at the end of it and post results of the first thing that comes up... it gets very very VERY creepy!
But the Mass Effect 3 fanbase... they should have been more angry IMO. The worst ending in fiction history should have WAY more rage than that!
I'm just gonna post the same things about ME3. Naming EA worst company over companies that have taken people's homes, legal action, death threats. Fucking childish. It's a bad ending, move on.
I agree. But still, I think the rage of ME3 should have been way bigger than it was... I know, that is saying something... but I honestly cannot think of a single story ending so crappily... not a single one! Sure putting people out of homes if horrible. But a bad ending is also bad too... just not as bad as others, but still pretty damn wretched.
You either don't play many games, or have had your perspective clouded by a fanatical hatred for ME3. For examples in the past couple of years - Dragon Age 2, Borderlands, and RAGE (the game) had way shittier endings than ME3. Fuck, I still think ME2's ending was worse than ME3 - you fight a giant terminator torso, and then escape, your entire story over that game having been nothing more than a diversion from the main plot of the Reapers coming to the galaxy.
And the rage should have been WORSE than it was? They got Bioware to release free DLC to add more to the ending, for fucks sake! An act virtually without precedent!
Lastly, any statement that begins "sure putting people out of homes is terrible, but..." is probably not worth finishing. Especially not when the "but" concerns the plot of a video game. Those other companies ruined people's LIVES with their actions, but a company that released a game with a poorly received ending beat them out. Unbelievable, and completely indefensible from any rational point of view.
ME3 could literally be the worst ending of all time though. They literally shat upon all of writing and all schools of teaching within writing... it is literally like they tried their very best in making the worst ending of all time. The people who got it made should be fired for how awful it was. I am not joking. If you can fuck up an ending that horribly, you don't need a job anymore and should be blacklisted from doing anymore work within that industry. Just being honest.
But yes, stealing houses is horrible! However, we are talking about ANGRIEST FANBASE EVER instead of who is worse.

The League of Legends community also sucks pretty hard, for the most part. Nearly every game I've played, there's at least a couple of elitist jackoffs who can't wait to tell you how shit you are, or yell at you for not doing what they wanted.
In all fairness, a lot of those "elitest jackoffs" that are telling you how shit you are...are probably telling you how shit you are. In normals, it's dumb to bother with that. When it happens that someone is bad, I just say "oh well, it's normals" and move along with the match. In ranked, however... Honestly, if people don't have any goddamn skills at the game, there's literally NO reason they should be in ranked. There are basic things that a player needs to know - how to last hit, abbreviations, strategies, skill combos, how to teamfight, who should be getting kills on the team, when to tower dive, how to gank, how to ward, builds and build orders, etc etc - before they ever step foot into ranked...
...but they go into ranked anyways. If someone is shit in ranked matches, I am 100% for the verbally berating of that person. They are a dumbass for going in there in the first place. If it's someone that is just having a bad game, you'll know...because they usually say "guys, I'm sorry that I'm playing for shit, I don't know what my deal is". Generally, people are forgiving of that when they know you are doing your job and just getting focused or whatever.
So just remember - if you are believing that they are elitest jackoffs, you should first analyze whether you happen to be good at the game or not. It's a hostile community, but it's because of the level of competitive nature that the game has.
@falserelic: I take my job writing VERY SERIOUSLY. When other people don't take it seriously. I will destroy them. Emotionally or otherwise. When you write horribly. You deserve no excuse. Artistic integrity should be fucking banned from the dictionary because all those two words have done is make people into lazy crap ass writers!!! Your work should not try to be art, it should BECOME art through it's high quality! Just because you want to be artsy doesn't make your work ART! All it does is make it preachy and stupid in the long run. You should just make a great fucking story that people will love that is complex and deep enough to have a little research done on it at the very least.
Mass Effect failed so horribly that I will kick Casey Hudson's ass for wasting my time and money of a series that never mattered to him or his team. It angers me beyond words to speak about him. It angers me even more when I think of all the possibilities and how they could have done great things... that... frustrates me the most. Any writer worth his salt would have known that the ending is shit and demanded it to be changed by any means necessary. However. I guess they don't care about their reputation or their honer as writers. If they don't care then why should anyone care about their honer when they don't even respect themselves!
Yes... I am very hardcore about my writing and others as well. Otherwise you may as well dumb down the entire human race if you write something stupid like they did.

I can't blame you for feeling upset about the ending to ME3. It seem like playing the whole series is pointless now. I don't know what bioware was thinking when they made that ending, or maybe this was apart of there plan this whole time. They might be coming up with something that nobody knows about not even the media. Something big that will surprise everyone.

I'm talking about "normal" games. I've never even tried a ranked game. It still doesn't stop the assholes from coming out. Clearly someone new to the game shouldn't be jumping into a ranked match.
Also, "if you believe they are elitist jackoffs, you should first analyze whether you are good at the game" (paraphrased) is one of the more unintentionally funny things I've read in a while, and pretty much sums up the mentality these people use to validate being exclusive pricks to other players.
And being a hostile prick because of competitiveness doesn't make such behaviour acceptable. At all. Pretty much sums up why the LoL community sucks. Filled with fiercely competitive children, who have no concept of human decency, or social protocol.

Wait a minute. You expect human decency and social protocol from the internet? You should find the other 80% of the internet before expecting that.
I can say this: most of the "hostile prick" types...aren't actually hostile pricks. Generally, they get pissed off because they've played so many games with so many baddies that it starts becoming a bit intolerable to deal with. We'll walk away from the computer for a bit, cool off, come back...and usually, it is the same result again. It's the equivalent of beating your head against a brick wall: eventually, you are going to start bleeding and get angry about it. Sure, we do it to ourselves...but they do it to us just as much.
The only times that I personally get angry in the ways you are describing is when someone is being a troll, being an ignorant fuck that is throwing the game on purpose, someone is feeding, or someone that is being given advice or asked to help someone and they refuse to do so because they have a lone wolf attitude. Otherwise, it's easily tolerable stuff to deal with.
Also, yes, you find the comment "if you believe they are elitest jackoffs, you should first analyze whether you are good at the game" unintentionally funny, but it doesn't mean it isn't intentionally true. If I'm bad at Call of Duty (which I'm not, but for the sake of the argument, we'll say I am), then it means I should probably find something else. I don't see how anyone can get enjoyment out of not being good at something, especially in terms of competitive multiplayer games. Now, mind you, I'm on the train of people that believe that Riot has not done nearly enough to explain the depth of their games and instead rely on outside sources such as CLG, Solomid, and many others to fill in the rather wide gaps that their Proving Grounds tutorial offers at the beginning of the game. At the same time, it's kind of ridiculous to expect that much out of the company when they have a ton of other stuff to do: champion balancing, map balancing, adding features and champs, improving features that already exist, etc.
However, getting into what you pointed out, these are in normal matches. There is no reason for the assholish levels of trolling in there beyond just being trolls. That is for sure. Unfortunately, Gabriel's Internet Dickward Theory applies directly to it: keyboard + anonymity = dickwad. In ranked, it's a vastly different story. People in there are vicious for a reason: to either get people to listen to someone who DOES know what they are doing...or to get them out of ranked completely. It seems like a brutal and crappy way of handling it, but people typically don't listen otherwise.
The guys at NMA come to mind, first it was BoS then it was Fallout 3, It's a pretty fun place though. Anyway, I like when fans get pissed, even though it might be for the wrong reasons, it shows they care about a game/franchise. Also Mass Effect fans, I'm one of those that were pissed.
I was going to say Zelda fanboys but after the Mass Effect 3 debacle this year I would say BioWare fans are number one.

I understand not wanting Metal Gear games to be made without the input of the creator of the series (I know I'm glad that he's kept going with it, because I love it when the games get insane and nonsensical), but death threats are too much!

Yeah, and people threatened Ninja Theory for changing Dante's hair in the DMC reboot. Fandom can be dangerous when taken to extremes.

Giant Bomb's community during Leigh Anderson is pretty good.

@falserelic: Yeah, I have no idea how serious the threats were. In my extensive research (I clicked on two links at Google), I didn't see anything details. Maybe it was someone/some people who were really going to kill him, but I think they wouldn't actually go through with it.
@jakob187: You probably could, but at this point I think he likes doing it again. I mean, they did just add Trophies to MGS4. Kojima had to have something to do with that, because who else at Konami would care enough to make some people do that? And that Fox Engine he's been talking about. What he's shown sure looks pretty Metal Gear-y. Well, kinda of, at least.

O yeah I remember that, people really got pissed at ninja theory for what they did to Dante, at the time I wasn't feeling the new Dante design either. But at this point as long as the game is good I'm fine with it. Watching some of the gameplay vids got me interested.

Rarely do people jump into a game and immediately become good at it. In the case of LoL, it can take dozens of matches to become reasonably proficient with one character. This is the problem with having an impenetrable community of asshole children - everyone starts somewhere.
I played in a game yesterday, where two people on my team reported a guy for going 1/7/2 in a normal match. They REPORTED him, essentially for not being very good. Imagine how that guy felt, being told he was being reported for the crime of being a noob to the game. This kind of shit is what's wrong with the LoL community. Not 100% of them, but enough of them, and often enough, that their actions become the face of the entire group. An insular clique of hyper-competitive children.

There is a saying, out there, If you want to keep your friends as friends. Do not EVER speak of Politics or sports teams. It is a very wise saying IMO.
A very loud portion of the Heroes of Newerth community. People actually spend time joining games marked and properly named "newbies only", and then proceed to complain about how shit everyone else is during the match - probably because they tried to play in a normal or ranked game and got absolutely destroyed and was told how shit they were playing so they needed to repair their egos by joining "newbie only" games and mold their hurt feelings into anger and rage and send it onto others.

Try the politics board! It is a level of insanity that even the insane try and stay away from on gamefaqs.
I played a fuck ton of MAG -- really enjoyed it. However, the official forums were completely full of people who had 400+ hours logged in the game, and did nothing but complain about how awful the game, and how awful Zipper was. It was crazy. There were never, ever any positive threads on that forum.
