What's your guilty pleasure and what is a game that you really just don't understand all the hype around it?
My guilty pleasure would probably be WWE Smackdown vs. Raw '08 and the game where I really just don't understand the hype around is Halo 3. The game is good, don't get me wrong, but it's still not as good as the first two and I think I'm the only one that thought the ending blowed.
What's your guilty pleasure?
"Guilty Pleasure- Animal Crossing.Ah, I completely understand the Burnout thing. I won't to get into it so bad but I always wreck during races and it infuriates me way too much to continue. Can't understand the hype... Burnout Paradise. I just can't get into that game...even though I really want too."
Guilty Pleasure: Dragon Ball Z Sagas and Apocalypse starring Bruce Willis, those games are terrible and i still like them >_>.
Can't understand the hype: Halo series.
My guilty pleasure...and man, are people gonna flame me for this...is the "Warriors" games. That's right. I LIKE Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Warriors Orochi. I don't know why. I just have a thing for being a loot and leveling whore! = (
My guilty pleasure would be Raving Rabbids 2. No other game has made me laugh as much.
I don't get the hype around The Sims.
Guilty Pleasure? The Sims series. Don't look at me like that.
Don't understand the hype behind many JRPGs. Only type I can get behind are the "tactics" style games, like Final Fantasy Tactics or Ogre Battle or Shining Force or whathaveyou. Those I like.
The average FFgame or FF clone? Dunno. Just meh.
My guilty pleasure is turn-based strategy. Mmmmmm tactics games. NIS games, Final Fantasy Tactics (even FFTA and TA2, though they don't compare really), Tactics Ogre, and Advance Wars are just the beginning. I beat Onimusha Tactics for the love of Pete! I haven't played any other game in the Onimusha series, I just saw "Tactics" and bought that bad boy. You give me a grid and some 2d sprites to level up, perhaps a fifth of decent bourbon to keep me mellow, and I'm a happy man.
A game I didn't understand the hype for was Sins of a Solar Empire. It wasn't a heavy advertising campaign, but all my friends who like strategy games raved about it like it was the second coming of Jebus. I just could not get into it for some reason. I'd say it was because I don't like 4x games but I love me some Civ, so who knows. The game just bored me to death somehow. Wish I had more concrete reasons for absolutely loathing it, but sometimes games just don't click the same for people.
Guilty pleasure.... I'm not sure, but Ninja Gaiden II got a lot of criticism and I absolutely loved that game. I don't really see the problem with the camera (no pun intended).
A game I don't understand the hype around is Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. It's gorgeous, it's Banjo, but vehicles? Really?
Hmmm... Guilty pleasure? Maybe Crysis.
I don't understand the hype around all of the Madden games, I mean... It's just madden 08 with like 3 new features. Why get so excited about it? (this also goes for all Mario Party games).
Dont understand the hype for metal gear solid 4. I didn't like it that much. I dont really know whats a guilty pleasure. it really depends on someones opinion.
My guilty pleasure: every year I install either a) Ultima 7: the black gate b) X-com: Terror from the deep or c) Jagged Alliance 2
I can't get the hype around: Halo and many other more generic sci/fi or ww2 shooters. Hell, they just look so arbitrary to me. (There are also alot of shooters I enjoyed).
Guilty Pleasure: Runescape even though I hardly play it now.
Games that I don't understand the hype about: Mario Party because it's just a little collection of mini-games and it's almost the same game every time.
