I do better when I'm awake and not frustrated. It's pretty hard to not get frustrated at SF4.

I tend to do better when I listen to Podcasts. Music, not so much because I like to think about other stuff when I listen to music. Podcasts I can just listen to passively.

It depends on the game.   In StarCraft, I do find that music makes me generally do better.  Not the case in Bad Company when I've saved myself/others/the winning of a game by hearing what is going on around me and reacting to it.

On another note, it's always true that if I get frustrated I start doing worse.  In Bad Company when my team sucks ass and doesn't PTFO, I will eventually get stressed out and start charging in to try to get the objective before time runs out and end up dieing more.  I usually just stop playing if I get upset and calm down before I start playing again.

Depends of the game / mode. When it's Warzone on Gears 2 or S&D on Black Ops I can have music or a podcast on in the background quietly. TDM = music racks up.

Also with music on I try more risky things and do things to mess around.

Kinda like this:

G-funk makes me better at shooters. It's science.

I have to be focusing, no matter what the game. I've tried playing while listening to music, or podcasts, but I always end up doing worse. The other night I tried playing LoL while listening to the bombcast and completely fucked up while defending the top.

1 beer and some background music pumping, (but only after I have already played the game for a while and know the maps well)

you're kidding right? Not the Disturbed part, the repeat part

Looping music works best since it becomes just a background vibe. It can put you in the Zone so to speak.

It's like someone laying down a beat for you. And shooting dudes is your flow.

If you find something that clicks with the game and how you play, one can literally loop a song for hours.

I tend to do much better in games when I'm messing about just talking to myself having fun. I find if i'm trying too hard to be the best and win I start making silly mistakes. The last game I was pretty good at was Killzone 3 and I was often surprised at how much I was the top player on my team.
