I don't remember hearing about this game on any podcast or seeing a video anywhere but Brad has it in his top 10, Justin McElroy has it in his and there was a lot of talk about it during the day 1 deliberations. Did I miss something during a bombcast or did the discussion really come out of nowhere?
Where did the Frog Fractions love come from?
Never heard anyone ever mention it before today. Whats stranger is that it ended up being so universally loved by the group, beating out many other games they raved about this year.
Just played through it, and I can see why they didn't really say much about it on the podcasts (did they even mention it?). Its hard to talk about it without giving away too much
I messed around with it up to the text adventure part before closing it. Makes sad to think that beat out any real game.

..... It beating out other games for OTHER PEOPLE besides you makes you sad? :(
How does that affect you? Why cry over how others 'spill' their drinks? :P
I played it a few weeks ago, but I never got out of eating bugs and installing/uninstalling lockon. After Brad said what you could do on the Bombcast I went back and played through it all. Neat.
More than anything it made me want to play some decently straightforward text adventures, it's been many years since I played one of those.
And it's no less a "real" game than any other. Just because it's a simplistic flash game doesn't make it less worthy of praise.@crusader8463 said:

I'm more confused as to why people love it as much as they do. I mean, it doesn't teach fractions so much as it references them. Is it one of those Internet things? Like "it's random, therefore I love it"?

Did you grow up with the MECC-style edutainment games? That's a big part of it.
i first heard about it from the Besties (Nov 16th) dismissed it at the time as i do with most of the deep indie and/or mobile games they mention. Played it today after GB's mentioning of it on the podcast so many times...was amusing, but i guess the build up around it kind of deluded it for me.
i only heard about it today too. saw it on the best moment and also time belt man's list and played through it.
it's pretty nuts but not much more than a funny little flash thing. i can see how finding all of that crazy shit out by yourself would be a lot more satisfying, but i went into it with the buzzwords "going underwater", "warp drive" and "dragon" in my head so i was fully expecting the crazy.
It was neat as a novelty flash game but yeah I think it's only getting a mention right now because it's just caught on around the office. I have a feeling they're mentioning it now for that reason and to suggest people check it out. Context is everything with this one, especially if one looks back at the podcasts and videos themselves. I'm not a huge fan of the fact that it's being praised like it's anything other than what it is (at least that's how I've taken it) but I'll take two and pass with this one and let it slide...I guess.

No one's crying... I just think that stupid little flash games shouldn't be up for consideration against games that dozens if not hundreds of people put years of their life into working on. I really couldn't care less if they think it's better or not, but it's a different class of game that shouldn't be in there with the rest.
Does that make Dust garbage because only one person worked on that?@MariachiMacabre said:

no, he worked on it a long time.
Binding of Isaac had only like 2 dudes and was done in 3 months so that's probably crap. As is Hotline Miami.
I guess if I knew nothing about Frog Fractions, it might've been mindblowing. Then again, maybe not. It just seems like any other flash game I might find on like Newgrounds. Use internet more people. There are TONS of flash games with crazy weird non sequiter shit in them. Unless something reeeeaaaally crazy happens after the text adventure part.
I saw John T. Drake tweet about it a month or two ago.
I still don't think it holds any merit being on a top 10 list, but whatever.
Super Meat Boy was 2 dudes. 3 if you count the soundtrack. Terrible game, I guess. (Still one of the best platformers ever.)@RecSpec said:

Consequently, Duke Nukem Forever is the greatest game ever made.
Frog Fractions is pretty rad.
I definitely prefer Dikembe Mutombo's 4 1/2 Weeks To Save The World.
I have no idea why this game is suddenly getting all this recognition and appearing in top 10 lists but to each their own I guess.
