So I have owned each Sony and Microsoft console there has been. In the PS2 - Xbox era I was a huge PS2 guy and played all my games there unless it was a Xbox Exclusive.

The generation after that, the PS3 - Xbox 360 era I was a huge 360 guy and played everything there and played only the exclusives on the PS3.

Jump to this gen, it's still early days but I'm pretty sure I'm jumping back on the Sony wagon. This gen I think I'll be going back to sony for various reasons and the Xbox One will become the X - clusive - box this time around.

Has anyone else done this? Jumping ship back and forth between the generations? Any done the opposite and is now mainly an Xbox One gamer?

To be honest I'm pretty excited to be getting way back into Sony and the Playstation. My first ever console that wasn't a hand me down was the first Playstation. In fact Lately I've bee playing a lot on my PS3.

Nostalgia:

I don't ever "choose" a platform; my desire to play everything I want means I buy every console/handheld that is released.

I buy what is good. That is why I own neither an Xbox One nor a PS4. I have however just purchased a nice new gaming PC.

PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360

The company holds no relevance for me.

hmmmm jesus I hoped so many times in my life...... I guess android has to be this time? Like I give up on Nintendo 3ds and go all iphone? The real this about a REAL hop has to be a bit into a console generation. Like how there was a massive support of Sony PS3 around the time when the Slim came out.

I don't think anything tops dumping Nintendo during the N64 days, god damn it was horrible back then no matter how much nostalgia people preach. PC, PS1 and Saturn anything was better then that blury slow mess. Just reminded like 1997 and playing Resident Evil, Street Fighter Alpha and Dark Stalkers with friends.

That usually depends on the games that are coming out on a specific platform. Had both a PS3 and an Xbox360. Both had awesome games. I'm a happy consumer.

I solely played a PS2, then I preferred the 360 due to better ports. But these past couple years I've really been favoring the PS3. I like exclusive software and Sony's been killing it (despite sending games to die with a lack of marketing). Especially on indie stuff.

The PS4 this time around was a no-brainer to me. PS+ got me into their ecosystem, the Vita kept me there, and now it's my preferred platform. I'll get an Xbox One eventually, but maybe not even this year. 2014 is my year to get a Wii U, you see.

I thought you said you bought what is good?

But yeah same for me, I just go where the good games are. Was Nintendo, then went to Sony with the PS1 and PS2, then last gen I had money coming in so I could buy all 3 and didn't have to choose which when you're a kid you kinda have to do. I started with a Wii, then a 360 and then when MGS4 came out a PS3.

Never owned a Sony console, but that might change. Also never owned more than one current gen console at a time. Gaming isn't my top priority.

My friends and sister got a Super Nintendo so I got a Sega Genesis.

My friends got a PS1, so I got a N64

My Best friend got a PS2, so I got the xbox.

When online became a big deal, me and my friends got Xbox 360.

This time we are thinking PS4. But that won't be until at least next Christmas. And we might change our minds by then. So who can say.

I followed a similar trend in the last two generations. PS2 and Xbox 360. I think I'll be going with the PS4 this time around, but I finally have the ability to buy both so I might do that if I feel the need.

It seems likely that I'll choose PS4 this time around unless the Xbox One experience is updated to better capitalize on its potential by the time Destiny comes out. I never even owned a PS3.

I haven't hopped per-say, I still picked up an XBO at launch and a PS4 a few weeks after launch, but if the multiplatform games have a performance difference I may pick them up on the PS4 over the XBO. I wouldn't do this last gen because I think the Dualshock 3 is a bad controller outside of the d-pad. I may just stick with single player multipltform games on the PS4 because I still think Xbox Live is a better service than PSN when it comes to actually playing games.

I started off with a SNES (I got one right before the PS1 came out). I started the generation after that with a Playstation (never got an N64). I started the next one with a Gamecube (though I got a PS2 a year later and bought an original Xbox in 2010) and then got a 360 (though I later got a Wii and recently got a PS3). And for this generation I'm starting with a PC.

I've never really had any sense of platform loyalty. Whenever other consoles came up, I found myself more interested in the games on them than I was in decrying those consoles and raising my preferred one up.

I've owned every Playstation console, and I'm likely to keep buying them. Though I started out the last generation with a 360, so perhaps this still counts as a hop.

I've owned every Sony system including the PSP and Vita. I've also owned the Xbox and Xbox 360, but not a One and don't really plan to. So I guess you could say I hopped off that train.

I've preferred Sony for every generation they've put a console out and so far it's looking like this generation will be the same. Though I may buy an Xbox One as well if they have some good exclusives, if the last twoish years on 360 are any indication though, this will not be the case.

I hopped from 360 being my main console to the PS3 this generation, mainly because I ran out of room on the 20gb hard drive and I needed cloud saves. To be fair I have pretty much every major home console other than the Dreamcast since the N64 generation, I guess I'm just lucky or obsessed enough to not be a one console guy.

Was a 360 guy for its launch till literally the day Metal Gear Solid 4 came out. Metal Gear Online took all my time and made me a PS3 guy since. For this gen I don't see myself getting a Xbone, I'm over Halo and Gears at this point and I don't see random Japanese gems coming out for it.
