Serious question. It really puts me off from subscribing when I hear Davis treat questions like their annoyances. He's been doing it a lot more it seems lately as well. I do enjoy him for the most part, but this aspect of his personality, in my opinion, is completely unprofessional. I want the guys to be real, but when they're rude, I don't know, makes me not want to give them my money.
Why's Ryan such a jerk?
When the cameras are rolling, he's performing. I wouldn't take a lot of what he says all that seriously, unless he's using his Serious Voice™.
To be fair, a lot of the questions I've read on the chat have either been answered or are just straight up bad.
So basically you're peeved off because he, from what it sounds like, brushed off a question you sent in to the Gears 3 TNT? Quit being a bitch, you limp-dick pansy-ass pile of wart puss LET'S GET IT AWWWWN!
Damn it man! You get your wallet out right now, and you stuff wads of cash into your PC right this instant!
This isn't a "professional" video game web site. It's the modern day equivalent of a Wayne's World style public access show. You don't come for meticulous, in-depth, dry, professional analysis of products. You come here because those guys are funny, have good taste in video games, and do their darnedest to earn our filthy, filthy cash.
I think that his personality reminds me a lot of the Englishmen I have spent time with. They tear each other down quite a lot, by taking the piss and not letting others get full of themselves.
In the USA we have such a "I'm OK, you're OK" mentality which is in conflict with this kind of honesty.
But in the long run, I think that kind of honesty about when someone is stupid or not funny leads to a society that is more thoughtful, and has a much better sense of humor.
SO KEEP BEING AN ASSHOLE PEOPLE! Our survival as a species depends on it!
@Abyssfull: I've never sent in any questions. And no, not because of Gears TNT. He's been doing it a lot lately, more so than usual. And certainly, if they want to build an even bigger audience, I don't think that's the way to go. Sometimes, as a professional, you got to put down that first impulse to call something out, bite your toungue, and answer the dumb question without pushing the people you want to subscribe away. Not being sensitive, again, I like him for the most part, and love the site. I've been watching and reading most of these guys for years.

@Sil3n7 said:You are my special snowflake from now on! If that makes you feel any better.I kinda agree. He seems to treat users in general like an annoyance. I being someone who supports the site find it lame whenever I hear it.
No I don't want to be your special snowflake. I want Ryan to be more professional.
He grew up loving the lovable dick persona and now he gets to play the part. Don't take it personally.
Watch Jeff in a GB video.@GreggD: Regardless of my misuse of their/they're, it's a serious question. I said I do and have enjoyed him for several years for the most part, but it seems he exaggerates his persona at the expense of hurting his audience, which in my opinion, isn't cool man.
Watch Jeff in Jartime.
Realise that ALL the guys on this site play characters to a certain extent, Ryan probably chief amongst them as the general host.
The same reason why anyone who's a jerk is a jerk. Because they are bad people that can get away with it.
#almostserious
Ryans a natural asshole. He knows it and he revels in it on camera because its funny. Don't take it so seriously.
I think Ryan is the most well balanced of the bunch in terms of professionalism and silliness. Jeff and Vinny can be a little too silly at times and Brad is a little too stuffy at times. Ryan can keep things on track and professional and has the charisma to keep things interesting and joke around a bit. That's why he hosts the bombcast, TNT, the Happy Hour, and TNT. I haven't really kept up with many of the live shows lately to hear question segments. I asked a question on today's TNT and I thought it was going to get lost in the chaos of Horde mode and be left with a simple "no" answer, but Ryan managed take the time in the midst of play to answer my question in a more elaborate answer.
If you can't handle people's dumb questions being called out on being stupid, then you should probably get thicker skin. Especially on the internet.
@FateOfNever: My skin is perfectly thick. I love this site and am not leaving. (though after this topic post you may want me to, thereby taking away money from those who's butt you've curled up in) You guys need to stop putting on your internet personas and see the other side of the issue instead of just bowing down at the altar of Ryan Davis. I never said I hated the guy.
Ryan's the jerk of the group but he's also the most insanely gleeful about ridiculous stupid crap that happens in vidjergames. Listening to him spazz out at the mayhem being caused in the Space Marine quicklook gave me the warm fuzzies.
That's why I like him.
I like that he isn't afraid to speak his mind, regardless of how rude he may seem. You're looking for professionalism in all the wrong places.
ryan seems like a perfectly normal good guy i mean look how many years hes been doing this? and hes able to say whatever he likes to freely i mean isn't that what many people strive for in this world to have a job you love and to be able to do what you want freely in it?
C'mon, guy, if you really have been following the crew for as long as you say then you surely should of come to terms with their mannerisms by now? Like others have said, it's primarily just an act to distinguish them more so from one another and to accentuate their personalities. As for their professionalism, again... this is Giant Bomb, where a lot of games can sometimes be summed up with a single word of either: dumb, crazy and/or crazy dumb. The site is well known for its relatively laid-back approach, which in turn affects how they'll respond to the community. Ryan can be kinda assholish, everyone will agree, but it's rooted in banter further emphasising the casual front for everything.
