Will you be buying an Ouya?
Is this a joke? I feel like someone posting this on Giant Bomb is some kind of joke.
It seems fine, but no, I don't plan on getting one any time soon.
I have decided to forego purchasing an Xbox One or PS4 and get an Ouya for all my gaming needs.
You monster! =O
@truthtellah: I wasn't joking just curious. With new consoles still a ways away I've decided to pick one up basically as an impulse purchase in hopes that it has something fun/compelling/surprising hidden inside of it. I guess worst case scenario i have a slightly more elegant solution to my emulation/XBMC needs.
Wow so much Ouya hate.
Well anyway as seemingly the only person on this site who is remotely excited for the device, yes I plan on buying one, but not at launch. When they add prepaid cards I will.
I'm not sure why I would buy an Ouya when I can play that stuff on my Nexus 7, and even more so once I get a GameKlip and hook up a PS3 controller to it.
Not unless I have a shitload of spare money, they drastically improve everything about it and it gets a killer app.
I had practically no interest in it prior to what was shown on TNT this last week. After that, I'm even less interested.
Not everything appeals to everyone; I'll be one of the first to say that, but as of right now I have no idea who that thing is supposed to appeal to.
People whose gaming budget is precisely $99? Incredibly rich people that mindlessly back anything and everything on KickStarter? People that want to fill the gap between NUON and Pippin in their library of failed game consoles?
Considering what the Ouya has to offer. I really don't see it holding anyone's interest for very long. Alot of the games on the market looks cheap and half-ass. I'm sure people who don't have much money would buy the console, but other then that the Ouya doesn't seem worth the cash.
So many fucking haters...
This first iteration seems disappointing, but they did promise yearly upgrades, which sounds like a problem in itself (yearly console purchase?) but seeing as how it's a cheap device meant to be upgraded and not a 8-year console, that seems reasonable enough. I think the OUYA 3 might be a real contender, at least as a Boxxee/Roku competitor with a broader gaming focus.
A lot of hate for something that isn't even out yet. Have Ouya somehow offended you?
Yes the games at the moment aren't groundbreaking, but they are definitely not all bad and emulation works as it should.
Besides there are certainly some promising games coming, like Broken Age and The Banner Saga. The Ouya allows self publishing which could certainly lead to some interesting games, and hopefully some truly great ones. It also means a lot of the limits of other android devices are irrelevant and as such you could make Ouya versions of tablet games and generally just more complex android games.
Netflix and other streaming services will also likely be coming to the Ouya, which makes it a much cheaper media center alternative to the Xbox One.
I might not get one in this incarnation as it sounds like the firmware still needs some works and it also sounds like the controller could be better to say the least. But to so readily dismiss it seems absurd, I will definitely watch it's progress with interest if nothing else.
Gotta love the size.
That is the most reasonable response to Wifi difficulties that I've ever seen.
