lol no, I hardly ever pay full price for games these days even. Besides the odd exception.
Would you be willing to drop $70 per game next gen?
No one will say yes to this. Of course we're not willing. However, if we're forced into a price increase like we were this gen, well, then we might just have to bite our tongues and give in.
Regardless, much like Abyssfull over here, it's very rare for me to pay full price for games anymore. Games drop in price faster than ever now, and I'm loving it. Also, I will not be tricked into buying special edition packages anymore.
" Hell yes. Here in Sweden -- as well as most, if not all other European countries -- that would make for a drop in price. "Isn't US games 60 dollars, so how can 70 dollars be a drop in our countries? i live in Denmark, and games here and in Sweden are almost the same in price. If prices go up in the US, prices in EU will follow.
I never buy new console games any way.
And as a PC gamer we have always play 50$ for the last 5-10 years
SO NO
I have not payed full price for a game since I bought Fallout 3 over a year ago. So, in a sense, no. Most likely not.
" @Icemael said:Games that cost $60 is the States cost 700kr in Sweden. With today's exchange rates, 700kr is around $100, which means $70 would make for a $30 drop. Of course, an increase in price in the States would probably make for an equally large increase here, but the question wasn't "Would you pay x% extra for next-gen games?". It was "Would you pay $70 for next-gen games?"." Hell yes. "
" @pornstorestiffi: Almost the same price? 649 kr is $90. "I didn't mean the US price compared to Danish, Norwegian or Swedish prices. I ment Swedish and Danish prices are almost the same when you convert the money to US dollars.
500-550 Danish kr. would amount to 94-104 US dollars.
If game price's went even higher I'd probably drop from rarely buying games at release to never buying them at release.
I like playing games but there is always something I haven't played yet going for a decent price that I rarely feel the need to get anything when it just came out.
An extreme example would be the Smackdown wrestling games, over here in England I could pay £40 in November when it's released or I could wait until December during the run up to christmas and get it for £16.00.
That won't happen with something like Modern Warfare for quite sometime but I wasn't getting it anyway.
Even the GTA DLC disc was going half the price of getting the DLC online during December.
I guess any price increase isn't targeted at somebody like me anyway but there has to be a price that even the most committed gamers start to get second thoughts.
I am going to assume you want us to scale it to our own local currencies. Because $70 is a price drop for a brand new game in Australia. In principle I say no, but at the end of the day I know I would. It would only means I would probably be more careful about what I buy. Pick up less impulse purchases and bargain bin stuff to make sure AI could afford the games I really want when they comes out.
If I had to, yeah, but I'd probably end up buying even less new games than I do now (which is around, what, one maybe two games a year?).
So people who said no would never play a new game ever ? just rent, always wait
people would still pay im pretty sure
$70 is too much. $60 is even too much. $50 seems just right. But I seriously hope that publishers don't try to increase the price of games with the next iteration of consoles. If they do, then they really have no business complaining about the sale of used games.
Hopefully we'll never see this scenario:
$70 a game or higher + all digital distribution = Nightmare
