So I recently moved and my TV's antenna port got damaged. I can longer use my simple solution of plugging in an antenna for local channels.

Now, I'll get an Xbox One eventually but don't need cable. How does the system handle local channels? Does it have a coaxial port, do you need a converter to pick up channels, does it have something built in to receive them, or is it only useful for satellite TV?

Basically, I want some local channels but I'm screwed with my usual method. Thought I can work around it with Xbox because of all that TV talk. Maybe you guys have a solution.

It only has an HDMI port for input, so you would have to get a cable or a converter box to switch the signal from coaxial to HDMI.

So, no native support for an easy broadcast option. I must be backwards, then.

To use the OneGuide with your TV and Xbox One, you need the following:

  • A cable or satellite set-top box with HDMI output
  • A connection to Xbox Live to download channel lineup information for the OneGuide
  • An Xbox Live Gold membership

It is not just an issue of getting coax to HDMI , One is pretty much designed for Cable use from what I understand. You need a cable box in that loop. From looking at the online instructions even the option for broadcast TV asks what sort of converter box you have meaning cable or satellite tv.
