Live action video game adaptations are still a thing... in fact, they're more of a thing now than they have been in a while. If you were in charge of casting the adaptation of your favorite game, who would you pick? Have they done the character dirty in any previous attempts? What actors could best portray these pixels/polygons? Or should they just not do it at all?
Your favorite game is becoming a movie/show. Who do you cast in the leading role?
My favorite game (right now) is Rocket League. The characters in that are like little egg people. I don't know who would make good egg people.
@shiftygism: Danny DeVito?

I think too many games are adapted for the wrong reasons - cinematic format/action packed/very popular - rather than some of the games where the concept or characters would make for something entertaining.
I'd love a well written "The Adventures of Guybrush Threepwood" series of The Secret of Monkey Island - wouldn't be too fussed who played him, I think it would be better served getting a great ensemble cast. As long as Pirates of the Caribbean played no influencing part on the production at all, I'm leaning more Muppets' Treasure Island.
Rebel Galaxy and the sequel (and even Hardspace Shipbreaker) could make for some quite good Dark Star, space trucker type stuff.
I loved Rango when that came out and had thought at the time that Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath would work pretty well as a film by that production team.
@humanity: Isaac as Isaac is a good pull! I can see it much easier than him as Solid Snake.
@rejizzle: I mean... I would watch it. Maybe not sober, but I would watch it.
@stantongrouse: Man, a Monkey Island animated series could be amazing with the right talent! I'm sure that's in a folder of rejected pitches in the Disney vault somewhere.
Just for the sheer audacity I'll take Xenogears with:
Steven Yeun as Fei Fong Wong
Emma Stone as Elly Van Houten
...and I have no thoughts about the rest except for maybe Dave Bautista as Rico Banderas, Paul Dano as Billy Lee Black and Cho Yeo-jeong if she can speak English (or maybe it's more interesting if she doesn't?) as Miang.
@bigsocrates: YES!

my favorite game is Dark Souls and its protagonist is characterless. So... Mark Wahlberg?
I'm wicked good at lighting these bonfires bro.
Nobody wants a Fallout 4 TV show or movie, at least not with the same writing as the Fallout 4 that we all know. And Senran Kagura already has an anime adaptation, which seemed to be someone between "fine" and "okay" based on what little opinions I've seen on MAL.
Eh. Fuck it. Fallout 4's Nate as Mark Wahlberg. (...That's his name, right? I've only played as Nora.)
My first thought was Danny Devito as Fargoth in Morrowind. Really had no idea how many of you already picked him but I shouldn't be surprised.
Although he was way overused for a few years there, I could see Benedict Cumberbatch as G Man in Half-Life. Or Cate Blanchett (or similarly tall blonde actresses) as The Joy in Snake Eater.
@shindig: TW as G-Man could actually be really interesting. I met the guy like 6 years ago at a screening and he really is that strange (e.g. during Q&A he got upset with a woman for saying The Room came out "more than ten years ago" when it had "actually been 12 years" and ignored the rest of her question). Not sure how easy it would be for people to work with him, but he might be able to make it work.
