Apparently the first Final Fantasy game you play will be your favorite so I'm wondering if it holds up with the majority of everyone.
I got into Final Fantasy at X.
I also played IX and XII.
Even though i loved 9 and its humor and characters X is still my favorite. I just love the story and the fluid switching-characters-in-and-out combat.
So for that statement is holding up well for me.
Your first Final Fantasy you played and is it your favourite?
The first one I played was 7 for the PC. It was just a demo, and I didn't know what the fuck was going on, and it was laggy and buggy like hell. I remember the game crashing 50% of the time when entering combat. I remember trying it again when I got a new computer. P2 333, 64MB SD-RAM with a Matrox Millennium something and a 3DFX VooDoo 1 PCI attached to it. Ohh the good old days.... Then came Half-Life, and I was the only one with a VooDoo card so everyone wanted to see how awesome it looked at 640x480 in Glide....... What were we talking about again?
Then came the 8 demo, and I remember finishing that and wanting more.
After that I played X, 6, 7 (didn't finish), 10-2, 12, tried 4 for 20 minutes, tried 8 again, tried 9.
My favourite is also 10 because it's feels a lot smoother to play than the others. + turn based combat. + voices
I found 12 pretty enjoyable as well.
With the exception of 6, I could not get into any of the pre PS2-era games.
I remember watching my cousin play 7 and then enjoyed it a lot, but the first I played was 2 I believe, and still my favorite.
VII was the first like probably most people, but IX was the one I loved the most.
X I put ridiculous time into getting almost every high level item in the game.
FF VI.
Still playable, still great.
FF VII? I still don't get it.
(Oh, yeah. It had stunning graphics back in the day. It's graphics are 'stunning' for a different reason today though. So bad its paralyzes you into not playing.)
The first Final Fantasy I played was #1 on the NES, but I played it at a friends house a couple of times from his save and never came anywhere close to beating it. The first FF game I owned was Final Fantasy Adventure on the gameboy. I played the hell out of it and loved it, but my favorite has to be FF7. Something about the way the characters, story, and cutting edge technology (for the time) came together to make a perfect storm of an RPG that I still have fond memories of.
I was really looking forward to part 8 but I was totally disappointed and never went past the second disk.
FFVI--first and favorite.
And I agree with animateria. I don't understand all the love for FFVII, though Limit Breaks were a fun mechanic.
Final Fantasy Legend II on the gameboy was my first (anyone else remember that one??).....
FFX is definitely my favorite....
" Final Fantasy Legend II on the gameboy was my first (anyone else remember that one??)..... FFX is definitely my favorite.... "It's actually being remade, similar to III or IV on the DS, under the name SaGa Frontier 2. If it's released over hear, it'll probably keep the Japanese name, as it actually has nothing to do with Final Fantasy.
Anyway, my first one was IV and it is my favourite followed closely by VI, VII and IX.
FInal Fantasy on the NES was my first, and it is my favourite, that said I'm not a big fan of the series.
My first one: Final Fantasy VI
But my favourite remains Final Fantasy 12, the series REALLY needed those changes.Which is why it's a shame that they seem to have reverted back to turn based stuff for 13.
I actually think the fan-favourite FFVII has been rendered near-unplayable over time. FF IX holds up much better.
I played Final Fantasy VII first, and I've played and completed each one since (except for XI and XII). I think my favorite has to be IX, with VII a close second, and X up there as well.
When I think about it the first FF I played was IV back when it was FFII on the SNES. I also played FFVI (FFIII back then), but didn't get into the series until FFVII. FFVII played a crucial role in my video game tastes today, I play a lot of RPGS now such as Suikoden and SMT. I say FFVII is my favorite for that reason, I do not think it's the best one in the series though. Fundamentally I think FFVIII, FFVI, FFIV, and FFTactics are better.
My first Final Fantasy (not counting any spin-offs) was FF4, and no, it's not my favorite. It's good, but not as good as VI.
My first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (also affectionately referred to as Mystic Blow Job). It is not my favorite. My first numbered Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy VI (FF III on the SNES in the states) and it is not my favorite. Final Fantasy X is my favorite. FFVI was my favorite until I played FFX though. I do still think Kefka is the best villan though.
First was VII, but ive played all of the old ones now.
But my favourite was VIII or IX, hard to make up my mind :)
My first FF game was FF Tactics advance. My favorite is a tossup between that and FF Crystal Chronicles.
