A Glimpse of Catherine's Gameplay

Atlus and their first entry for the PS3 and Xbox360 has intrigued me since we saw the brief and sexy teasers, but until now I had no clue as to what type of game (other than "dating sim") it would be.   
 
This video reveals a little bit of what I assume is gameplay, though it still left me wondering if puzzle platformer is Catherine's only core gameplay mechanic.

What.

It seems like the puzzle-platform-y stuff will take place during Vincent's nightmares, whereas it'll be more adventure-type gameplay during the day (social interaction, mystery solving, that kind of stuff.) There's a demo on the Japanese PSN on the 27th, so things will be more clear then hopefully.

Also, I love how the PS3 boxart is three times more sensual than The Xbox boxart.

And, oh right... Japan...

I'm glad this isn't an rpg.

That gameplay segment reminds me of the Scarecrow dreams in Arkham.

You enter a psychotic dream world and fight talking Japanese sheep-men on a hellish tower of doom . What's difficult to understand about that? 

You don't fight the sheep.

Am I the only one who thought of Paprika while watching this?

Really intrigued by this game. Hope it finds it's way over to US soil because I've been dying to play an Atlus game ever since watching the Endurance Run.

It's all just so deliciously dark! I like how even the intro for the ATLUS logo has blood filling up the red letter T.

Wow.  So it's not actually trad JRPG style gameplay.  That only makes it more interesting to me.
 
I don't know if I'll ever play it but this really does look like one of the most interesting games coming out soon, partly because it seems it might have something new and fresh to offer at the very least in the nature of the story but maybe beyond that as well.

"sound disc" made me fucking laugh for some reason...
 
 
so is it like a puzzle platformer? I thought these were the personna people.
