Cards Against Humanity is observing Black Friday by digging a huge hole in the ground.

What else can be said?

EDIT: https://holidayhole.com/

RE-EDIT: If you have Goat Simulator in your Steam library, you can't say a word against giving money to stupid projects.

I find myself increasingly indifferent to a lot of the CAH team's antics. Throwing figurative money into an actual hole is cute and all but I don't think they'll be able to top selling people literal bullshit during one of their previous Black Friday anti-sales.

Is the hole bad for the environment?

No, this was just a bunch of empty land. Now there’s a hole there. That’s life.

I mean, maybe the actual impact is ultimately negligible, but it's pretty disingenuous to say that needlessly running construction equipment for days is 100% responsible. I hope that they're (a) paying the people doing this idiotic PR stunt extremely well (I'm sure they had to find non-union workers for this though?), and (b) they're taking safety precautions with utmost seriousness, because the last thing we need is workers getting hurt or killed because some dipshits who made a lot of money on a card game that made white people comfortable with racist jokes again thought it'd be funny to dig a really deep hole.

Yes, but only if you disliked the video of Jeff and Dan playing 3DS on a rollercoaster.

EDIT: Wait, yeah, giving money to the project is beyond stupid. It's the hate for the project itself I don't get. This site was built on dumb, and several people in this thread gave money to make it dumb.

I think this is hilarious. It would be dumb if they were just digging a hole, but the fact that it's attached to people giving them money for no reason makes it good. I hope they donate it to planned parenthood/something else threatened by a trump presidency.

Knowing how Max and the Cards Against Humanity folks are friends of the site, it always surprises me the amount of Giant Bomb users salty about Max and CAH. It's just a dumb funny card game from people doing stuff that amuses them and yet some people talk about it like they killed someone important. I just think it's hilarious. All of it.

Anyway, I was expecting the hole to be way deeper by now. Did they take a break or are they just making the hole wider to be easier to dig?

I don't personally find this super hilarious about it but I'm surprised how tightly wound this comment section is. Then again there was practically an apocalypse when a pie was flushed down a toilet once so I shouldn't be surprised.

Not a fan. If you have the resources to dig a giant hole, at least do something with it. This is a waste and not to mention a safety risk afterwards if they don't fill it up again.

They've probably done more for charity and worthwhile organisations than 99% of companies ever will so I'm totally okay with their dumb hole.

It's incredible to me that so many people are so outwardly angry/disappointed about this. It's a silly hole that's being made with donations, they're being 100% honest and upfront about what it is, and they're not promising anything more or less than exactly what they're delivering on. Even if you don't find it funny, which is totally understandable, the worst it deserves is indifference.

I'm just curious how much you get for what is likely going to be close to two days of non-stop digging now. Heaviest machine I've ever driven is a forklift.

I find it so strange at the amount of hate these guys get. I think their card game is funny but not so much Max himself as evidenced by that recent PAX panel but that doesn't mean I hate them. They do awesome charity work

I appreciate the performance-art aspect of this but, like their previous ventures, I'm not going to take part myself. That said, I don't see anything nefarious about it. I tend to find the Cards Against Humanity silly celebrations usually end with some big donation to charity of some such, so hopefully that will happen in some way this time - maybe at the end of it all, they turn the giant hole into something useful.

There is something calming about watching heavy machinery at work. The folks complaining about this are missing point and are not paying attention to how the people behind Cards Against Humanity go about doing things.

First think about the expression and the meaning of "dig a hole". My interpretation is that the Holiday Hole is a literal representation of people in general making a poor choice for what ever reason. Then being stuck in a situation they can not get out of. Another interpretation is that people are throwing their money away at things they don't need because it was cheaper than it was yesterday. This has been mentioned before but all these stunts are calling attention to the absurdity of things that have become social norms like Black Friday. Based on what is going on recently. When CAH says that everything is fine and they did this for no reason. We all know that is a lie.

I was thinking about this and maybe they are getting a head start on building underground fallout shelters. Preparing for the situation when the Orange Demagogue decides to press the nuclear button because he is upset.

I just can't stop thinking about the logistics of this and how expensive it is. Presumably this is someone's lands so they would have to have permission or have paid for it somehow? Or is a permit involved?! And how did they get these drivers to agree to this?! Having trucks out + drivers per hour is not cheap either! Unless these guys were digging a hole anyways and they just paid to film it?!
