Would you watch a Dan and Drew MGS series?

So in the new premium video demo derby Dan and Drew play the original MGS demo. I've never played an MGS game and listening to Dan try to explain the madness to Drew was hilarious. I would seriously love a MGS series with them playing through all 4 games or something along those lines. (not gonna say it) Dan bringing the knowledge and Drew going in cold. Just from the demo I think it would be pretty great, and it might just get me caught up enough to be interested in the Phantom Pain.

I wouldn't, no. MGS is one of those series I'm too invested in to get much enjoyment out of watching someone else play it. I've always preferred watching the guys play games I'm not already familiar with.

Yeah would love to see this. Dan's enthusiasm rekindled a desire for more MGS in my life.

Oh goodness, yes. Complete playthroughs would be too much to ask, but a series where Dan shows Drew part of each game while trying to explain how it fits into the overall story would be great.

I've played the 4 numbered titles this year in Japanese, hell of ride I tell you! And I would say the first is my favorite. Wander if the video would have a long section of Dan yelling "WAKE UP, DREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I love me some Metal Gear. Seeing Dan explain it all to Drew would be great. Seeing Drew fall in love with the crazy military side of it would be the best.

@kon1312: That might be a poor experience, given what happened in today's video. I mean, take the Miller plot twist he just casually mentioned. That's literally one of the biggest twists in the game, and he just dropped it like it was nothing.

I'd recommend going to YouTube and watching all the cut-scenes from all of these games instead. The last time I checked, these existed on YouTube, they should still be there. I'd also recommend Twin Snakes, the GameCube remake of MGS1.

As much as I enjoyed today's video, Metal Gear Solid does not lend itself to the Endurance Run format. You can't sit there chattin' through the entire length of the goddamn game and expect to get anything outta the story. Drew should just try playing the original MGS on his own time. They could talk about that on the Bombcast instead of their weekly eSports update.

I've already watched all of ChipCheezum's LPs of the series (which have the same "One person has played this before and one hasn't" format) and I've played them myself so no.

Part of me wants to say yes. But, no one on the Giant Bomb crew actually enjoys or likes stealth. Even Dan hates stealth, he's said he hates Splinter Cell and likes Metal Gear Solid because of the the story.

So...watching them play through a stealth game, and probably play it badly, might wind up being too frustrating to watch.

But something like Load Our Last Souls ala Vinny's DS1 playthrough. @drewbert can play it leisurely every week or two weeks, with @danryckert guiding him thru all the crazy narratives, snake butts, playboy magazines, and cold war politics.

So it's like Dan 'Big Boss' Ryckert, guiding Drew 'Solid Snake' Scanlon thru MGS1, 2, 3, 4, PeaceWalker, and Ground Zeroes.

@drewbert would love it, because in the middle of the game you can use codec to call Natasha, Master Miller, Sigint, Boss, etc, who would proceed to talk to you about the internal workings of specific Russian tank series, Hind-D, PSG-1 sniper rifle, Colt SAA, or how the rats behave during winter (spoiler infanticides), snakes habitat, ravens' place in inuit culture.

Absolutely yes. watching dan play it brought back many a good memory of my first time playing that game and dan's enthusiasm for the franchise would be a delight to watch.

And drew scanlon thinks he is the master of all knowledge but does not know the lore of metal gear,pfft .

I actually think Drew would really dig MGS if he got into it, if nothing else for all of the technical specs that it drops on various military technology. It's right up his alley. Plus, he's open minded enough to get into some of the weirdness.

I would pay any amount of money to watch Drew play through this series with Dan as his co-pilot. His reaction during the demo quick look is already hilarious so I can only imagine what happens when he sees all the other fucking batshit insane stuff in that series.

I'm trying to remember, but how long are these games on average? I am thinking 15 or so hours each?

I've watched Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus play through all of the MGS games, I've played through all of the MGS games myself, I've helped friends play through all of the MGS games, I've played all of the HD remakes of the games from Twin Snakes to the re-release of Peace Walker, and I've watched a number of speed-runners play the games. I've put in a lot of time with MGS, so much to the point that I'm basically sick of the series and the community around the games.

But I would totally watch these guys play all of Metal Gear.

I don't care if they don't find all the rations, watch the ice cubes melt, beat each boss with the tranq pistol, beat all of the Monster Hunter levels in Peace Walker, or never raise an alarm. It would be a blast to watch Dan, with his enthusiasm, and Drew, with his military love and general bewilderment, play the games.
