Just a thread where people can upload fun stuff that they saw happen or did; I think the game is extremely open ended so there's all sorts of insane stuff that could happen to any individual person that hardly anyone else would see. As far as spoilers just no story stuff, if it's gameplay related but still story relevant then stick to stuff that was in pre release coverage for now (i.e. Quiet).

This mission was going absolutely perfectly and then the shit really hit the fan but it was by far the most fun I've had with the game so far so I'm glad it did. I planned virtually nothing out that happened and it still felt extremely tactical:

Bullet points leading up to above video (currently running at 480p, should probably be 720p at some point if I remember what "Best" means on PS4 uploads):

(Also, keep in mind I was attempting to show off as much of the game as I could in an hour's time, and a lot of that wound up condensed into these 15 minutes. HOW ABOUT THAT MAGAZINE THROW, THOUGH? Shame it didn't work out...)

• Tried to do an extraction mission of former Ground Zeroes team members (or however the game frames it), turns out these dudes are wandering around high on PCP and impossible to catch. bearfield (person on another forum I was showing side ops after he'd been told they were dull and repetitive) watches me try and fail for over five minutes.

• I skip to a different extraction mission, this time at an actual base. (My mic isn't working in the actual video, either, but I tried to walk bearfield through tagging people, scoping the area, etc.)

• I sprint across the road to where I plan to start my infiltration when a tower guard spots me instantly, I have no angle and the alert starts.

• Lots of back and forth before I decide to throw a grenade and skirt all the way around the outer base in the confusion.

• Make my way down a waterfall up behind the base, swap back to stealth after some serious gunplay and make my way through an underground tunnel system to the middle of the base.

•Sneak up some stairs, try to shoot a guy through a hole in a wood paneling, knock him out when he comes into my little shack, then I sneak up behind the guy at the light.

• Idiocy commences.

EDIT: Decided to also share a video I recorded of me getting an S rank on Mission 19. No spoilers except for the content of that mission, which is nothing outside of the ordinary. It could have easily been a side op. Gosh getting S ranks feels good, especially with perfect stealth and no kills. The way they all domino at the end from the individual tranq darts felt niiiiiice.

So I came right back afterward to blow all those assholes up, especially the guy in the tower that always wakes up quickly:

They totally never saw me even though I fired like 10 tank shells at them from a similar position and various other entertaining explosions happened. Here's the mission score screen from the latter run:

So yeah, S Rank without the support calls (poor Pequod) despite using a fucking tank.

The leveled up Mosin equivalent sniper rifle looks really awesome so I figured why not use it for a bit, rarely end up using it on actual missions:

Yo I heard you totally play as Solid Snake at the end of the game. (Only true if you desire it to be.) After playing the vast majority of the game as stealthily and non-lethally as possible, I've been bringing out the big guns lately for a change of pace. This game plays so damned good... (also, bowling through guys with the dive move is good fun)

And from much earlier in the game... What do you mean I'm immature? Well... I'd rather be immature than in manure.

I like this game a lot.

The stun grenade run was an S Rank and virtually perfect but you could very easily just get the S Rank with Quiet doing everything if you went and farmed some headshots/tactical takedowns elsewhere.

@demoskinos:I imagine you could do chain CQC moves with smoke, that's what stun grenades used to be useful for; but most of the time enemies aren't grouped that well in MGSV.

@Mike: I've tried doing that but always fall off, do you need to be exactly in the center or hit a button to grab the balloon?

@fredchuckdave: Get on top of the container and fulton it. As soon as the fulton device is connected, you'll see another icon pop up. Press and hold E/Y/Triangle again and you'll grab onto it.

@artelinarose: It's definitely worth messing around with lethal weapons every once in a while, can be super fun if counter productive. Also I learned what Anti Air Radars do! Glad you enjoyed it regardless.

As far as clearing out the entirety of Yahko Oboo that's always really annoying, but just getting prisoners out via crawling underneath the base and using the holes in the ceiling seems to work alright. See 2:30 in this video:

Here's a quick clip I captured this afternoon. The setting is during a story mission, but in this segment I had just happened upon a small guard post that wasn't too far out of my way that had a couple of highly skilled dudes, so I made a slight detour to investigate. No story spoilers or anything, it's just a shack with a few guys around it.

I was using several new pieces of equipment that I had never taken on an op before. Here's the equipment used with timestamps...if you are the type of person who wants to discover new equipment for yourself, I recommend skipping this video altogether. There are a couple of things shown that I had no idea even existed until I researched and built them on my own.

  • 0m05s: Custom suppressed 7.62mm assault rifle with laser, flashlight, forward grip, and 3x range finding optics
  • 0m12s: Custom suppressed tranquilizer sniper rifle with 2x-8x variable power scope
  • 1m09s: sleeping gas grenade
  • 1m25s: Rocket Punch! This was my first time ever using it, I was pretty happy that I got three knockouts during it's maiden flight
  • 2m00s: Tired another Rocket Punch, but it hadn't recharged yet. So I sent D-Dog over to keep one guy occupied and then ran over and finished the two final bad guys with very amateurish CQC.
  • And holy cow, is YouTube bitrate getting worse lately? This looks nothing like live gameplay or even the original ShadowPlay recording...oh well.

Some early game spoilers, here's a few really fast ways to win the Quiet Boss Fight. I guess I won't embed the videos to be safe, but definitely worth watching.

@Mike: I thought I heard them mention it in a trailer, but I couldn't quite get it to work.

I did some field testing as well! I tried to employ child soldiers in battle and despite their smaller frame, they are unwieldy, lack any form of aerodynamic qualities and generally can't be flung much further than a grown adult.

When people go on about how it's terrible that there are child soldiers in the world, I finally understand what they mean, because children are complete shit in warfare.

I hit an absolute brick wall in difficulty with the OKB Zero mission, managed to get through eventually.... but there's a much faster way!

This has some slight spoilers in it's dialogue (all cutscenes are cut out though), so don't watch it if you haven't played it.

@dualface: Sometimes the hold up doesn't count as a tactical takedown hence the grabbing; also it's almost always better to incapacitate the enemy no matter what, there are occasional exceptions where it's a wash.
