Release Date: 1 Sep 2015, Collector's Edition Announced

If you plan to play on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, or PS3, you can get your hands on the next MGS game on September 1. The game will be released for PC on Steam a few weeks later on September 15.

The Phantom Pain's competitive multiplayer mode, Metal Gear Online, will go live on the launch date as well.

The MGSV collector's edition comes with tons of extra physical and digital content. The tangible goods are listed below.

• Half-scale Replica of Snake's Bionic Arm
• Collectible SteelBook
• Behind-the-Scenes Documentary and Trailers Blu-Ray Disc
• A Map
• Exclusive Packaging

The collector's edition's digital goods include weapon skins, different cardboard boxes, point boosters, and more. Here's the full list:

• Weapon and Shield Pack (Windurger S333 Comba Special Weapon, Adam-ska Special Weapon, Maschinen aktische Pistole 5 Weiss Special Weapon, Rasp Short-Barreled Shotgun Gold Special Weapon, and a Personal Ballistic Shield in Olive Drab, Silver, White, and Gold)
• Cardboard Box (Rocky Terrain, All-Purpose Dryland, and Wetland)
• Snake Costume (Fatigues in Black Ocelot, Gray Urban, Blue Urban, and All-Purpose Dryland)
• "Venom Snake" Emblem
• Metal Gear Online XP Boost
• MGO Items (Metal Gear Rex Helmet, Golden AM MRS-4, and Golden WU S.PISTOL)

If you don't pick up the collector's edition, you can still grab the "Day One Edition." It includes a physical map, as well as the following DLC items:

• A Map
• Adam-Ska Special Weapon
• Personal Ballistic Shield (Silver)
• Cardboard Box (Wetland)
• Fatigues (Blue Urban Snake Costume)
• Metal Gear Online XP Boost

Just a few days after the debut of Metal Gear Scanlon 3, they have a Phantom Pain announcement? A conspiracy by the La-li-lu-le-lo and Giant Bomb? You better believe it. Hopefully it's not that chicken cap again, though I guess you can never tell when you're dealing with Trolljima.

While it's likely to be the release date, it's also not official that they're going to announce the date. They could just be putting out another trailer.

Actually it'll probably just be another countdown. That's what they like to do over at Kojipro.

Probably the announcement of the multiplayer OB. Or registrations for a closed beta.

Or probably some Seiko-branded watch.

Who knows what it'll actually be though. Not that i'm in any hurry for the game to come out, I still haven't played any MGS.

Could be a beta for all I know, but "announcing release date soon" and then doing something else is just odd. I'll clean up the title just to not be a jerk.

A countdown timer to another countdown timer. Maybe a new trailer of Big Boss drinking New Coke. Probably the beta for Metal Gear Online. I want to know if the boots made by Puma will be sold in the U.S. They look badass.

It's either confirmation that Transfarring will return, or that Metal Gear Scanlon: The Game will be Kojima's next project.

It's definitely not PS4 exclusive. I mean they've been taking pre-orders for all consoles for at least two years now.

The big news is probably a release date and an announcement that all of the super cool awesome collectors editions are Japan exclusive, just like they did with Ground Zeroes. I want my puma jacket, damnit...
