What games do you think would benefit from having the nemesis system from shadow of mordor?

I saw someone somewhere mention elder scrolls (or any Bethesda rpg) and that would be a dream for me. The elder scrolls worlds always feel static. Having the nemesis system in TES sound absolutely incredible!

I would also love to see the nemesis system applied to, well, any open world rpg.

What are your ideas?

Someone somewhere on the forums mentioned that they wonder where the Predator license sits. I can't remember what this was in relation to, so I might just be unknowingly taking their idea.

Anyways, Predator the game with the nemesis system applied to humans... thats all... someone somewhere needs to make this a game!!!

I think you would definitely have to modify it but something somewhat similar would be cool in a sandbox shooter with gangster themes like GTA or the older Saint's Row games, the hard part would be justifying things like enemies not being affected by certain styles of damage or them getting physically stronger. An Elder Scrolls game would be great too.

These are two things that I like, but how would you like to see it applied? The universe, especially in ME1, seems a bit too vast to have just a handful of unique dudes who are special, and as soon as you expand that to a planet-by-planet basis, it's an insane amount of work for the devs to do.

I think it could be cool in a Red Dead game. Instead of Uruk captains and warchiefs they'd be various outlaws.

Destiny. I really think the Nemesis system would make that world feel more alive and meaningful, even without fixing anything with the main narrative. Honestly, it can be applied to any open world game, but I'd be really interested to see it applied to an MMO like Destiny.

@the_nubster: The orcs are replaced by the Geth. I don't imagine it being planet by planet, it's 15 or so Captains randomly roaming the universe, randomly showing up while you're exploring, blah blah blah. It makes perfect sense to me

I think ME2 makes more sense. That way it could be applied to Cerberus.

SSX.

I always liked how in Tricky, if you pushed someone over too much during a race, they would get all aggro before the next event and say some hilarious, terrible dialog at you.

@babychoochoo: Seeing this applied to raid encounters would be really cool. I actually think it would change how endgame progression works for the better.

Anything that is an open world game would be good with this system. If you played an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout game and the bandit leaders and henchmen jostled for power and remembered previous encounters when you ran away or they ran away would be great.

Destiny, Monster Hunter, Mass Effect, Pokemon, Assassins Creed, The Batman Arkham games, The Witcher, The Elder Scrolls and fallout are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Fallout 4. There are already a ton of different factions in the Fallout universe. Earn rep for one while killing off the hierarchy of another and then layer the Nemesis system on top of that.

This system would not work in an big open world like elder scrolls. If you have 20 identical orcs in one simple setting its no problem to impose this system but if you have thousands of different npcs with different factions, agendas and stories spread across a huge world its to much work. Small isolated gameworlds is perfect for this system. Batman, infamous, gta etc. Its not very compatable with a heavily storydriven game tho.

I can't really see how most of the games mentioned could realistically apply something similar. It's a cool system and works great in Shadow of Mordor, and that's enough for me.

I know it seems a little too spot on, but Assassin's Creed would be perfect with this system, or at least an equivalent. The whole dynamic militant hierarchy is super intriguing and one that I hope other developers try and emulate. (A new advancement in an AI system like this is a great step for the next generation and one that's been needed for a while, so if other developers saw this and said "Hey, let's try that too", that's great.)

Geth don't have personalities though. Legion is an exception.

I would love to see this system in an Infamous game where you have to take down the First Sons.

Maybe Hitman? You could exploit the various NPCs into helping you take down your target(s) in a variety of subtle and non-subtle means. And more emphasis on the guards reacting to you if your spotted would be nice. Instead of a basic alert state they could change what they're protecting or their method of doing so.

I absolutely agree! Destiny is not only devoid of story, but it basically never explains nor establishes it's lore(I know the bungie site has the cards which do provide a background on the creatures you face and what their motivations are but it's not in the game, so it doesn't count); the nemesis system would provide a much more interesting and engaging experience.

I can definitely see it applied to a game like Fallout or Elder Scrolls. To have adversaries with agency, that sometimes can even try to ambush you, would give the random NPC of the world a different personality... At least, it would be better than the current random "you are the arch-mage, I want to fight you!" person...

I like the way you guys are thinking.

Reading these two gave me an idea. Pokemon fighting for survival in a post apocalyptic world, packed with the Nemesis system! Think about it!

Like @insidioustuna said Madden, pretty much any sports game would benefit from some form of the nemesis system. An evolving rivalry system would add a ton of depth to those.

Dark Souls. The enemies respawn anyway, so if they got stronger or you had to defeat them a different way because of immunity to damage types that could be cool.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. I don't think it would work as well in any other AC title.

Imagine having each navy (Britain, Spain, Portugal, Pirates) with their own hierarchy of captains and admirals. Pitting them against each other would make the ship combat and boarding be much more meaningful than just getting resources and ships to use in a social mini-game.
