Poll Are purchasing MHW for Xbox One or PS4? (388 votes)
I feel like all the MH vets are getting this game for PS4 rather than Xbox One, and I'm concerned that the playerbase on Xbox is going to be weak.
Anyone else buying for Xbox One instead?

Gonna get it on XB1 because I don't have anyone to play with either way and I just prefer it more as a platform.
Standard PS4 since my PC isn't good enough for modern games and PS4 is my main platform. My first MH, loved the beta, can't wait to jump in on friday! 1 of my friends will also get it on ps4 down the line.
XB1 because of my friend preordered it there but I will frown at him for it when we play online >:-(
All of the above because I make smart monetary decisions and there's going to be people on each platform I'll play with. Most people I know are PS4/PC double dipping.
@babychoochoo: I have never played a Monster Hunter game before despite coming close a few times. If I only solo World, is it worth it?
@pompouspizza: I only put about 20-30ish hours into MH Generations which is nothing in the grand scheme of things haha so I'm kind of a newcomer to the series too. From what little I've experienced though, how you play is entirely personal preference. Every fight is balanced for single and multiplayer so you're not gonna be locked out of any content at all. I played with a friend on 3DS and it was super fun working together to bring enemies down. That said, it was also super fun trying to do the same thing playing solo. You don't have others to rely on so the initial planning is even more important and the fights are more tense because it's just you and the monsters.
I have a PS4 Pro but I'm buying the Xbox version for my regular-ass Xbox because my friends are there. None of them have played a Monster Hunter game before so I can't wait to see them get trashed by dragons/angry pickles.

If you eat the angry pickles before they can attack you, you should be safe.
I'm still not 100% on it. I'm also undecided on which one to get it on. I have several years of Gold accrued and the Xbox is my primary. However, all my friends are getting it for the PS4.
I'm sure there would be enough Duders if I decided to go Black and Green.
Double dipping on PS4/PC.
Hopefully there will be a lot of of each platform and people will have decent experiences hunting online. Hunting online with people that are skilled is really where the magic is. I think that will be more exciting on PC but I just can't wait eight months.
Waiting for the PC version. I am bummed its not coming out now but I figured I have enough backlog that that's not a big deal. I'd get it on PS4 but I do so much more of my gaming on PC that I don't think I would end up giving it the time I want to put into it if I didn't wait for the PC version.
Can one play this without friends? I would like to go mostly solo, possibly get matchmade for harder quests? This would be my first Monster Hunter game, so I figured I'd ask before purchasing, as there are no people interested in this game in my circles at the moment.
EDIT: just found this thread, my questions are answered!
Waiting to see how the final version turns out. Wasn't particularly impressed with performance on the standard PS4 this past beta weekend.
If it really isn't great I'll probably wait for the PC version.

If my 3DS experiences are to go by, than you'll find a very welcoming community. The 3DS games were my first MH experiences and the community were super helpful when playing multiplayer for the first time.
@machofantastico: Good to know, thank you. I still prefer to play alone for the most part, this games looks like a good podcast game as well. I am not buying on release date anyway, I need to wait till it's a bit cheaper.
I was going to wait for the PC version but I recently upgraded my PS4 to the pro so I'll be buying it there. I can't wait 10+ months for Monster Hunter. Hopefully no double dipping unless the PC version gets really cheap someday.
Interesting reviews hitting. Sounds like a great Monster Hunter game, still I'm real concerned about performance on the standard PS4. Sounds like the PS4 Pro is the way to go.
PS4 all the way since I got 5 others to get it on that system. I haven't turned on my Xbone in approx 4-6 months. I do not pay for Live and honestly, I dont have much use for the thing. Almost all my friends have moved from Xbox to ps4 since the system has more games and realistically, there are not that many games coming out for Xbox that looks interesting enough to bother with them as most are coming out for PC also.
If i pick it up it will be on pc.
Was almost tempted to get the ps4 version until i read about the framerate issues, so will 100% stick to waiting it out.
