Not sure if this has been asked before but was the 90s the best era for cartoons? Thinking about all the great cartoons that came out then I have a hard time figuring out if another era had a better quality of cartoon shows. Disney was at the top of their game with animated movies and shows like Aladdin, Ducktales, Darkwing, and Tailspin. Cartoon Network was dabbling in Anime and had shows like Swat Kats and Dexter's Laboratory. Fox and WB, (now CW), used to show cartoons in the morning, evening, and weekends like Pokemon, (we all liked it at some point), Spider Man, the X-men, and the Batman/Superman Adventures. Nickelodeon had some great shows too back then also.

I only ask because some decades have something that peaked during that time. The 60s had music, the 2000s had the internet, the 80s cocaine, and the 90s may have been the era of great cartoons. (And Rap music).

There's still plenty great music, cocaine, cartoons, and internet going on. I think that it's just that there's a critical mass of people who grew up in the 90's.

Kinda makes me wonder what sort of thing people will look back on with nostalgia in ten years.

Best decade of toons? The one you grew up in. In my case it was the seventies and eighties.

The internet peaked in the 2000s? What does that even mean?

I never really watched cartoons so I wouldn't know.

I watched the old Looney Tunes cartoons though.

I honestly don't know, but the late nineties brought us Batman Beyond, which I still enjoy.

In other news, they're remaking Thundercats from the eighties and so far it's been a great watch!

Batman and X-men were great. Turtles were life.

Also dug He-Man as a little guy, but that's 80's stuff.

Oh and Ducktales was an 80's cartoon ( first broadcast in 1987) :p

The internet became the internet during the 2000s. Everything from here on out is gravy. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Tiny Toons, Looney Tunes, Animaniacs, Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life, Recess, Ren and Stimpy were some of my favorites as a kid.
