I'm a firm believer that Dance / Eurodance is the greatest music in the world, and far better than the music that comes out these days. Enough of dubstep and all these songs about sex. Lose the Lady Gagas, Katy Perrys, Ke$has, and Justin Biebers of the world. Let's go back to a time when music was about happy things and talked about love and relationships.

Artists like Ace of Base, Alice Deejay, Amber, ATC, Crush, DJ Sash!, Eiffel 65, Haddaway, La Bouche, SNAP!, Vengaboys, etc. made the radio much more fun to listen to. Wouldn't you much prefer if the house music today was replaced by dance music in the style of what was found in the 90s - early 2000s?

An example of the greatness that is dance music!

I know we are in the minority but I totally agree. If my life was one continuous rave celebrating before Y2K I would be happy.

@Euro_Dancer: My wife would be your best friend. We actually had a couple of songs by Erasure at our wedding. LOL.

Also, I've listened to at least half of those bands in the past month or two. It would be more if she ever drove anywhere.

@Vinny_Says:Nice! I have that single on CD. Some good clubbing memories of that song, too.

Of course, really! :D

No, not really. I like Abba but the closest I get to dance music aside from them is stuff like Daft Punk and The Knife.

Edit: Also, just reading the words "La Bouche" instantly got the song "Be My Lover" stuck in my head. Shit.

Yea, they don't really fit lol. I was listening to them while making this topic and I guess the song subliminally told me to include them haha. My bad.

Christ no. When you said 90's to early 2000's dance music I thought you meant sweet tunes like this:

Not eurodance bubblegum torture. I respect your opinion, even though it's empirically wrong.

Jellyhead is one of my absolute favorite songs. That was back when Donna Air was cool.

Oh, and we can't have dance without the Fast Food Rockers!!! "A pizza hut, a pizza hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut! McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a Pizza Hut!"

Tiesto is still as epic now as he was then. I'd suggest finding his recent stuff off of Club Life Vol 2: Miami.

@Euro_Dancer:

I'll always be partial to Tiesto. I think his "Just Be" album is the most consistently amazing set of songs produced by a trance DJ. While I don't think he's quite as good now as he was then, his last Club Life was a step in the right direction. It's unfortunate Kaleidoscope was such a let down,

those are cheesy artists. there is a reason they aren't making/composing music anymore. paul van dyk needs to get back to his roots and make some real good melodic progressive trance. the stuff he's pumping out nowadays makes me shake my head. his best work can be heard on his double disc, "out there and back." "tell me why (the riddle)" is one of my top 3 favorite songs of all-time. "another way (original)" is fantastic, too. that one is in my top 5.

This exact thought has come to mind a number of times the last few weeks. This stuff is so much fun to listen to. It doesn't try to be super serious and it ends up being way more fun than any of the stuff played these days. I'm pretty sure I've listened to every 90s artist the OP listed in the last two weeks.

Fun fact, my first CD was Eiffel 65's Europop, and my favourite song was NOT "Blue (Da ba dee)" but the title track. That song has such sick bass.

YES VERY YES. Early 90s Trance is by far the best Trance, especially Acid Trance.

I have been trying to find the best remix of Alice Deejay's "Better off Alone" but still haven't found anything better than the original. It's just SO GOOD

By far my favourite Eiffel 65 song:

Edit: I just saw someone mention Paul Van Dyk's album "Out There and Back" and I totally agree, he's not so good anymore but that album was phenomenal. Though I prefer "Avenue" to "Another Way", though both are amazing songs.

Aside from Mr Vain, The Prodigy and 2 Unlimited, you are all just plain trollin'.

Time to TAKE THE POWER BACK!

Why must you all make the 90s look so bad....shame shame shame. Just go find the Wipeout 2097 soundtrack, and get some culture into you.

"avenue" is a great tune. PvD's earlier work was pretty damn fine stuff. trance peaked in 2000 and has been on a decline since then.

here are some of my other favorites:

All right, so I'm preparing to listen to everything in here I haven't heard, but what I have heard actually doesn't sound THAT different from what we get now out of Lady GaGa and half of what Katy Perry puts out. I mean, sure, the current stuff is less tongue-in-cheek than the pop (no stance on the trance) but it's still hyper-repetitive synth-pop. If anything, what we're doing now is a callback mixed between Europop and whatever you'd call Annie Lennox.

@JOURN3Y: I'll raise the ante. Cher with Auto-tune in the mix. Thanks to the folks giving shout out to The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. Both of those groups are awesome.
