My name is Morgan Park from Bakersfield, Ca. I am 15 years old and a Junior in high school. I love the gaming industry almost as much as I love games themselves. One day I hope to be a professional game reviewer, or journalist, or whatever that title may be. For now I'm working to perfect my craft, writing reviews over at Gamersheep.com. I prefer the Playstation 3 over the Xbox 360, purely because of the superior exclusive games, among other things. I'm no Xbox hater, as in I play the good stuff like Halo and Gears of War.

Some of my favorite games include the Uncharted series, Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, and Portal 2. I haven't been around since "back in the day", so my nostalgia tends to reside in more recent titles. A huge part of my life is Podcasts. I listen to podcasts while I do everything. Playing games, walking to school, car rides, Spanish class, you name it, I'm probably listening to some sort of gaming podcast. Some of my favorite podcasts include the Giant Bombcast (duh), Rebel FM, Podcast Beyond, IGN Game Scoop, and Podcast Unlocked. I also tune into The Comedy Button, Rooster Teeth Podcast, and Good Job Brain, which aren't gaming podcasts, but all very entertaining. I have an iPod Nano 6th generation (the tiny square one) with a watch strap casing that turns it into a watch. I have packed that 16gb square with nothing but podcasts, so the Bombcast is never far away.

As for right now, I'm doing my rounds wasting my time in high school so that I can get a piece of paper stating I'm not a moron. I got two more years to go, and then off to college, or if I'm lucky enough, some sort of internship at IGN or a publication like it.As for right now, I'm doing my rounds wasting my time in high school so that I can get a piece of paper stating I'm not a moron. As far as I'm concerned, I've learned 90% of everything I'm going to need in the "real world". But I got two more years to go, and then off to college, or if I'm lucky enough, some sort of internship at IGN or a publication like it.

@laserbolts: Correction, I meant I've learned pretty much everything academically, as in Math and English. Obviously I'm not serious, there's always more to learn.

Not a bad post, but believe me on this: You know nothing yet.

Keep trying, keep writing, keep believing.

*sighs* Here, read this. I'm not a fan at all of any of the PS3 exclusives with the possible exception of Resistance 3.

I've learned 90% of everything I'm going to need in the "real world".

I know every 15 year old thinks this... but you don't. I don't want to sound like your mom, but you would be very wise to realize that you don't even know a third of what you're going to need in the real world.

EDIT:

I haven't been around since "back in the day", so my nostalgia tends to reside in more recent titles.

Perfectly understandable, but being a professional game reviewer would involve knowing (and having played) a lot of classic games. Go back and try everything from Doom to Chrono Trigger to Super Metroid to Super Mario Bros. and things before that, it will give you a better understanding of where gaming has been and where it is, and where it might go from here. Also play those games because those are some fucking great games that still hold up today - I've only recently beaten Doom and Chrono Trigger and the latter has skyrocketed to one of my favorite games of all time.

@believer258: I don't think I should have to point out that "The following is an opinion" each time I express one.

Holy crap, I had hair exactly like that when I was 15, some friends and I just decided to stop getting haircuts, and we let it grow for almost two years, I think. It was long and super straight, feathery and greasy. It was unkempt and I had a bad habit biting my hair, much like some people bite a pencil when they're trying to focus. It's super gross... and oh God, I miss it.

Anyway, welcome to the community, good luck breaking into 'games journalism'. You'd better speak up, because that job market isn't really about how well you can write, but more about who you know, and whether people like your personality. Hope you get that internship.
