I've been thinking about playing airsoft with some of my friends but I've only played paintball till now. If you could give me suggestions for guns that would help and keep them under 200.
Airsoft Help
Echo 1 is pretty much the best starter brand for your price. Saving your mooney for a higher end gun such as a Classic Army or Tokyo Marui will be better in the long run.
It would help to known what kind of firearms you think are cool, beacuse then I could give some suggestions.
Also, there are some crucial accessories you will want to buy. If you are purchaseing an AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) a better battery and a smart charger are a must. A gas pistol needs a proapne adaptor. And of course, you will need decent quality bb's.
An Echo 1 Full Metal MP5 will cost ya around $175 from airsoftgi.com. I'd definitely recommend that one.

Well, it's always a good idea to wear long sleeves and long pants to help avoid getting ticks and such (if you're playing in the woods). Being gas powered does not necessarily mean that the gun is going faster than a spring rifle (especially of the sniper variety) or even necessarily an AEG. It's all related to how many feet per second the BB is traveling once it leaves the gun's barrel. In general I think a GBB or NBB (blow-back or non-blow-back) pistol will pull between 300-350 FPS, which is in the mid/high tier in terms of how hard they sting. And you don't want to get shot with it less than 10 feet away, since it can sometimes break the skin. It doesn't actually hurt that much. Leaves welts the size of small spider bites. With gas powered airsoft guns don't you have to wear a lot of protection? What's the pain scale like if ... [more]
Edit: Yeah, forgot that I mentioned long sleeves n' pants. If you're wearing at least a normal layer of clothing, it's not likely at all that you'll bleed from a sub-.32g BB going at 300-400 FPS.
both airsoft and paintball have their pros and cons.
paintball is more fast paced but all the guns look basically the same
arisoft is slower and, at least when i play, has more strategy and there is a wide variety of guns modeled after real life weapons
i like playing both but i prefer airsoft

But nothing beats the feeling you get when your diving through mid-air for the snake with dozens of paintballs flying around you... except sex... sex beats it.
