Poll Alright gentlemen, what kind of milk do you drink? (945 votes)

Whole Milk (3.5%) 21%
Semi-Skimmed (2%) 36%
Skimmed (1%) 12%
Fat Free (<0.2%) 8%
Non Cow Milk (Almond, Goat, Mothers etc) 11%
I Don't Drink Milk 13%

So this weeks podcast broached the apparently very contentious topic of milk. Personally I'm a one percenter, but other people are free to make the wrong choices with their too creamy/too watery slop. FOOLS!

Anyway, where do you stand?

When I was 12 we were at a camp with our school and we were all given the opportunity to milk a cow and then taste the milk we just milked, straight up.

I have not had a drop of milk since.

2% all the way. Although I've had to use 1% before and never noticed much of a difference.

Cow's milk is for cows. Heavy cream for coffee, though.

I drink almond milk now, with no flavoring. It took some getting used to, but it's alright. I used to drink soy milk, vanilla flavored. One time, I tried a carton of Very Vanilla, and I'm pretty sure that stuff is actually just melted ice cream.

Haven't drank cow milk regularly in years, since it started to not sit well with me.

I don't drink milk (not often anywhoo; maybe if I'm desperate for a quick fix of nutrition or can't eat solids for whatever reason), but for cereal I have semi-skimmed.

Whole milk is whole. All other milks are empty husks.

I use unsweetened almond milk because I'm lactose intolerant. When I used actual milk it was skim, but only because that's what my parents bought. As far as I'm concerned milk only exists for cereal and to accompany certain baked sweets. Drinking it under other circumstances is surely something psychopaths do.

I use almond milk exclusively but really only in coffee / smoothies. I never pour myself a big jug o' milk to drink.

I recently realized that I've become lactose intolerant. I can stand a little bit of milk in coffee and tea but gone are the days when I can drink a glass full of it or even drink it with cereal. I've gone to soy and almond milk. I'm still trying to find a decent substitute but I was never a huge milk drinker to begin with anyway. I miss ice cream though.

Whole milk, but I'll settle for 2% if I have to. Anything less is just water. If I could afford it, I'd switch to almond milk, however. Tastes better, isn't a cow-centric beverage that humans aren't actually built to drink, and it makes me picture farmers milking giant almonds, which makes me happy.

Fat-free milk. I usually go for the fatty versions of food/drink, but whole milk is viscous and offputting. 1% and 2% are tolerable, but whole feels like I'm drinking melted butter.

Well, hopefully you're allowing us ladies here at GB to vote on this poll. :D

But seriously, I drink 2%. I used to drink 1% but I gradually moved to 2%. I have no clue why I changed, I just did. I also don't really drink a lot of milk. I used to hate it when I was growing up, unless it had chocolate or coffee syrup in it, but I really got into drinking it in college.

Whole milk kind of grosses me out. Same thing with skim. I like being right in the middle I guess.

I very rarely drink milk these days, but when I do it's either what we call light might (0.5%) or medium fat milk (1.5%) here in Sweden. I don't like the taste of anything fatter than that.

For cereal kind of stuff I pretty much only have yoghurt or quark, on very rare occasions I use fermented/long milk, never regular milk.

Soya milk. I largely don't eat any animal products, but I'm weak and hypocritical and give into temptations of pizza and chocolate.

I'm lactose intolerant, but can't stand the flavor of soy, almond, coconut etc. milks. So I just buy 2% lactose free milk. I pretty much only use it for the occasional weekend cereal or if I'm eating some particularly spicy wings.

Used to drink it a lot growing up, but it grosses me out now. I don't even put it on cereal anymore (I'm fine eating dry cereal) and I drink black coffee. I use it in recipes, but that's about it. Whole milk is the worst.

I am not a gentleman but I drink WHOLE MILK because it's delicious. Half & half goes in my tea and coffee.

2% and almond/coconut milk are cool too but only if my preferences aren't available.

I grew up drinking 2% but once I started living on my own I switched to whole milk and man is it way better. For a while there I was even ordering the "Royal Rich" from this milk delivery service, which is basically Whole Milk Plus. It was really good, but maybe a bit much, so I went back to regular whole milk.

Unsweetened almond milk. Unfortunately for me, it's more of a physiological imperative than a preference, but I do like it.

The whole discussion on 1% 2% or whole milk confused me a bit cause we don't call it by it's percentage here in the Netherlands. We have either what we call half-full or full milk wich comes down to either 1,5 to 1,8 for half full or up to 3,5 for full milk. I usually go with half-full when it's for drinking or cereal and full for cooking.

Fat free and lactose free or it messes me up quiet bad.

I also occasionally drink coconut milk and rice milk, but I vastly prefer actual milk.

Seems like Alex is sending a lot of people to the sun as soon as he's elected :D

It would be nice to know if those who chose the last two options did it based on taste or if it's a case of intolerance, and if so is it tied to their ethnic group or else

No lactose free option? Either that or soy/almond depending on what it's for. Pretty strong lactose intolerance.

I usually go with 2% but I just discovered that Almond milk is pretty solid, so I may make the switch. I will then run off to Vermont and survive solely on granola.

I don't drink milk. My brother gets "reduced fat" milk whatever that means. The only thing I use milk for is baking and eating frosted mini wheats with. That's the only kind of cereal I eat with milk.

While I don't drink straight milk, when I add it to cooking or cereal and such I use full-fat (whole) milk. I'm significantly below average in weight, fat, cholesterol and salt in my blood so my doctor said I should only ever use the full-fat versions of everything.
