I sure love all these magical high school anime.
Anime & Cartoon Megathread IV: We Must Limbo To Send This Thread On Its Way

Oh this show looks pretty promising.
That was the show I was thinking of before I saw that other one. 2 mystery shows this season!!! I doubt they will top Rokka no Yuusha though.
;_; If in terms of being disappointed in the show, those shows would probably not top Rokka. I was hella bummed with that show, man. ;_;
Argh, also not gonna watch Owari until I finish Tsuki. :O
Been awhile since I wrote here.
Owarimonogatari
Returning to Monogatari is kinda refreshing since many shows don't do oddness as well as Monogatari does. Araragi past sounds pretty complex and his relationship with Sodachi willing be interesting now that she back. I find Ougi to be pretty suspicious as she the one who set Araragi to the classroom to be trap in even if she claims she didn't "set" the room to be that way.
Owarimonogatari 01-02 | "Aw Yiss"
I actually had no clue this was 12 episodes.
God I love this series. Shaft is so amazing.
I only watched Bakemonogatari and I liked it. Are other seasons as strong? How much ecchi and disjointed/of the wall story telling there is?
edit: also new season of Haikyuu!! hell yeah.
well at least they tried to be different by having mc start to strip too but fuck man, god fucking dammit.
Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou 01 i cant, even scrubbing through it was painful. the op transition in the beginning however is some dumb thing i can get behind
I have to agree that watching the new Attack on Titan: Junior High was painful. My sides were literally hurting from laughter. It's straight up comedy with its parody of the AoT universe. All character traits are exaggerated to the extreme and the school settings adds in the school tropes like Christa running late to school with toast in her mouth.
Episode 1 is 10/10

Monogatari Series: Second Season is even more excellent.
disjointed/of the wall story (Lots)
ecchi (Lots of fanservice)
But damn does it look amazing. Do it.
At this point, the only way I can stay sane is to convince myself that series like Chivalry of a Failed Knight are created as a joke because the fact that someone said "I got this great idea. It'll be magical teenagers at this magical highschool and this gary stu ass motherfucker will be all special and shit and we'll have a bunch kawaii bitches slobbering all over his dick!" is almost as troubling to me as the fact that someone else told that first person "duuuuuuuuuuuuude that sounds like a great idea! Have this money and we'll turn it into an animeeeee!"
@bigjeffrey: Should I not watch Nisemonogatari first? Then Nekomonogatari and finally Monogatari second season?
Yeah -gatari series are good. Even fanservice is dare I say high quality? It is still distracting god damn it! But at at least not as bad as in 90% of the shows. Sometimes I feel the creators are pandering with some camera cuts and scenes. But you can't argue with imagery like this
It appears that Shaft continues its design tour de force. Take a screenshot of any scene and you got an amazing design piece to put on set as your new desktop background.
Owarimonogatari 1-2 was good. All the gatari seasons are always good. It's literally just good dialogue and design work and that's usually all I need with the occasional fight scene thrown in.
Well I only have one more week until my job enters fall break time and I get two whole fucking weeks off. Lots of anime is going to be consumed and I'll have plenty of opportunities to yell a lot more at people who have not watched Mushishi (THAT FUCKING MEANS YOU TOO @austin_walker). I did watch more than I thought this past week. It was a surprisingly productive week. Still haven't shaved my face yet though....need to get on that.
Watching:
Gintama (episodes 126-134): Nothing like a fun trip to a bathhouse filled with stands and shit stained underwear. I loved the random character nonsense at the end of the arc.
Sailor Moon S (episodes 1-3): I really liked the first season of the show and hated the hell out of the second one. This season seems to be off to a much better start. Charming, funny, and Neptune and Uranus kicking ass.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (episodes 1-9): I've already said my piece on this stuff so far but I'll just reiterate that I think this stuff is kinda boring.
Completed:
Gangsta.: Good show that could've been great. Some of the animation during fight scenes was a real bummer because the show generally looked pretty good. It tried to go a lot of places, but really didn't end up anywhere. The 3 main characters were good and I'm bummed we might not see more of this show with Manglobe going bye bye.
Baccano!: Oh I loved this show's style. Sometimes I thought it leaned into the violence a tad too much, but overall I had a blast following this cast of characters. Miria and Isaac are the definition of showstoppers. Holy shit I was enthralled every time they were on screen.
Hanamonogatari: Shaft never disappoints when it comes to pure visual flair. Also, I really dug the story here and the little weird twist and turns that this series generally does really well. Add it to the list of monogatari shows that I do like (Bake, 2nd season, and Tsuki)...Also Kizu is a film trilogy?
Mushishi Zoku Shou: Suzo no Shizuku: Covers the last part of the final volume of the manga. A beautiful and bittersweet ending to my favorite series ever. I'm going to miss not having any of the show to look forward to now. It's so laid back but so beautifully human and heartbreaking. I've been made to smile and brought to tears so many times during this series and it still hasn't fully hit me that I'll probably have so few shows continue to bring me the experiences this one has on such a high level.
@bigjeffrey: Should I not watch Nisemonogatari first? Then Nekomonogatari and finally Monogatari second season?
@edgaras1103: Nekomonogatari is a prequel to Bakemonogatari, so I would watch that first. Then continue to Nisemonogatari, Monogatari Series: Second Season, Tsukimonogatari, and then to Owarimonogatari. Watch 'em all!
Yep, you should watch them in the order they were released even though chronologically it's mixed up. It makes more sense if you watch it in the order they were released. Also Hanamonogatari is part of Mono 2nd Season but it might be listed separately so keep that in mind.
Man, I should probably re-watch some seasons since I'm starting to forget certain details in the plot. Still catching up with Tsuki.
EDIT: By the way, I think it's better if you watch Nise before Neko then after Neko into Monogatari 2nd Season since Neko transitions into the first arc of Monogatari Second Season (i.e. Neko has Tsubasa Family -> Mono 2nd Season starts with Tsubasa Tiger). I remembered it just now. Chronologically it's mixed up (Neko takes place before Bake as @bigjeffrey mentioned) but it makes more sense narrative wise if you view it in that order.
So Bake -> Nise -> Neko -> Mono 2nd season. Also Bake has an episode 13,14,15 that was released separately. You'd have to search for it elsewhere. I know it's confusing as heck but we're here to help. :3
@gaspower: I googled about the seasons. And saw Bake had 3 more episodes which I have never seen . Then followed up with @bigjeffrey advice and watched Neko. And now I am finishing Nise. 2 more episodes to go. Thanks for advice and I usually watch shows chronologically , but sometimes it gets confusing with back and forth timelines. Kara no Kyoukai for example was like that.
What's with the females getting short haircuts? I don't like it. Hanekawa , the sister and I know later will be Senjougahara. I like my long haired girls. Also I think Kanbaru is the best.
@jiggajoe14: ;_; To be fair, they're not as strong as Bake in terms of pacing.
@edgaras1103: I actually like Hanekawa with the shorter hair but I do like Senjougahara better with long hair. Considering that you're marathoning it anyway, Neko's story would still be fresh in your mind when you start the second season so I guess that's not going to be a problem.
Neko also has my favorite OP song in that series. It's relaxing.
I really liked Bakemonogatari ending song. Just watched One punch first episode. Amazing . So much detail in every scene, very realistic art and colours., music is also good. One thing though Saitama voice actor , somehow I imagined a bit different when he's in relax jokey mode. I know I have particular VA in mind but just can't remember him.

Being a huge fan of the manga for OPM, it was everything that I wanted and expected from Madhouse. The one thing I could see people having an issue with the change in animation during some of the fight scenes.
Also, the new Gundam is looking really promising.
Crap, now the Saitama voice is bugging me. Those who are reading manga what kind of voice actor you hear in your head when he's talking? Maybe it will juggle my memory.
edit: What the hell? Monogatari 2nd season where are all the black bars? It feels weird with usuals aspect ratio.
One Hype Man- Saw this awhile ago actually, but finally it has officially premiered! Naturally Madhouse did really well with the art and animation. Saitama's voice is a bit off from what I expected, but still close enough for it not to bother me. Looking forward to watching more!
Side note about OPM, I actually ordered the first two manga volumes because it's such an awesome series dammit and I don't support the manga industry nearly enough.
@instantryan: what's the change in animation?
@jiggajoe14: These are 2 gifs from the reddit thread on the episode.
Best monogatari o p
That is not Platinum Disco at all! But I do like this one and the fake retroness of it.
@instantryan: Those changes work for the better honestly.
And can we just marvel at how fucking smooth and good that looks? I mean, damn son.
Best monogatari o p

Platinum Disco is really good, but from a graphic design standpoint my vote goes to Staple Stable.
Best monogatari o p
Man, I forgot that this faux-retro intro was in the second season. 0_o
Thanks for reminding me, sir.

You know what, duder, I'm watching it now and I get what you mean about the VA in my head while it was still in manga seems a lot more different than in the anime. When he wasn't in serious mode, I thought he would sound more bored (I don't know if there is a much better descriptor) and not as casual sounding than how it's done in the anime. I think I wouldn't necessarily fault the voice actor but maybe more so on the voice director.
@golguin: I'm kinda surprised how many chapters of the manga the first episode had. I mean the re-done manga with the new art isn't that far in and the chapters on their own aren't that long. I'm kinda expecting a 13 episode series when it comes to this shounen jump series.
@i_stay_puft: Apparently a leaked listing revealed there will be 12 episodes. They'll probably do another series when there's more manga material to work with. (Kinda like Hajime no Ippo)
For the record, @takashichea might be willing to help make a list again when it's time for AotY voting, so don't worry too hard.
Besides, everyone knows that Ninja Slayer is the undisputed GOAT anime, it's not even close.
Sorry for the late reply. The notification system doesn't work, but I did see an e-mail verification. I let you know when it's ready. I have only added the Winter 2015 shows so far. I might have to get your G-mail address in a PM later on. (it's best since I might miss shows and your folks notice them. I'm not active in Giant Bomb versus Anime Vice Boards. Having another teammate to add a missing entry is best)
@bigjeffrey: Considering they couldn't even finish spelling "Revolution," who knows?
@takashichea: Thanks, I'll send you a DM later.
@turtlebird95: I like the change as well but people can be picky at times. As long as Madhouse keeps up the quality of the adaptation, I got nothing to complain about.
Now that the weekend is over and most of the new season has debuted (I think there's 2 or 3 left to start later this week), most of what I'm considering the must watches are sequels or existing property (i.e. Lupin III). Might just be my interests, but most of the new/original stuff is pretty mediocre. I'll wait and see how they pan out though.
