First arc of Monogatari was meh. When there is no Araragi somehow I am getting bored. Second arc is pretty neat. I always liked time travel/butterfly effect type of stuff in anime.

Ace of diamond 27 - I am a bit hyped for the next match . Even though it is the usual in sports anime but whenever Sawamura can shine I will take it. New opening not that good, but ending is better than the previous one.

I should go to sleep, well one or two more episodes of Monogatari and that's it. I swear.

The season finale of Rick of Morty was pretty crazy. Sad it's already over, but at least season 3 has been greenlit.

I missed a few episodes, but I'd say about the same. They seemed to do a lot more space stuff in season 2, and the rest of the family (Jerry, Beth, and Summer) get a lot more involved with Rick's antics and such. (They pretty much become desensitized)

It ends on a cliffhanger, surprisingly enough. You can pretty much tell what season 3 will mostly be about. If you loved season 1, you'll love 2.

Monogatari 20 episodes done. Hmm. I feel like the arcs build up for something and then just ends too fast, like there is no satisfying conclusion.Hachikuji is awesome, I like Izuko Gaen design, the sideways baseball cap looks rad.

The one character I really can't stand is Sengoku. Maaan I do not like this kind of archetype in shows. Just grinds my gears. The scene where she snapped was so satisfying and I thought finally she is gonna be redeemed , but nope.

Also I know it is common in anime to answer a question after self indulgent monologue, but damn this shows goes to the extreme. It's like why you talked in a roundabout way that you can't do something instead of saying you can't do something straight up? Maybe I am getting burned out by this show.

@edgaras1103: Yeah, if you watch a lot of the episodes of that series in succession, you could get somewhat overwhelmed especially with the amount of dialogue and exposition this show has, which is a result of trying to stay faithful to the light novels. I remembered when I was watching it, I had breaks in between since I couldn't devote too much time watching all of it anyways so it didn't wear on me too much. Anyway, I think it'd be a good idea to just mix in some other shows for a while and just let the new season's episodes pile up a bit until you're ready to dive back in.

I've checked out most of the anime of the season that I was interested in.

  • Heavy Object felt awkward and a bit empty so it's dropped.
  • Tried Chivalry of a Failed Knight and I'm not sure if I'll go further than another episode.
  • I was most looking forward to Concrete Revolutio, and as expected, it's swimming in style with some excellent music to boot.
  • There was something about the battlefield scene in Iron Blooded Orphans that I liked. It felt alive in a way.
  • Comet seems like it has some potential, but I don't know if it can overcome the tropey-ness of its premise.
  • One Punch Man was a nice surprise. Dat Sakuga. Although it can get hard to get over the "These monsters are destroying entire cities. How can the humans even rebuild in time?" feeling. Though I'd have to let that go if I want to enjoy the show since it leans more towards a comedy.

Also interested in taking a look at The Perfect Insider.

Other than that, I'm on the 4th episode of Mononoke, and that is the most intensly traditional Japanese looking anime I've seen. In a beautiful way. It's got some stylish twists to it as well. Great atmosphere. I always appreciate when a director tries to feed the audience the story through the visuals, although a bit more transparency would be nice here. The first arc ended more ambiguously than I would've liked.

@gaspower: Yeah, I am gonna take a break after Monogatari. Hitagi End arc was quite good. Quite liked the dialogue in the last confrontation . Still my least favorite character. Kaiki is awesome but the introduction to him was way more badass and menacing.

All this Bakemonogatari talk is making me want to catch up with it. I left a couple of episodes into Nisemonogatari years ago. Thanks to whoever posted the order of the shows.

One-Punch Man was amazing. I actually like it much better in animated form. The art style is naturally less pretty than Yusuke Murata's drawings, but they are animated well(The subterranean figth scene was incredible) and moves at such a good pace that I'm pleased with the tradeoff. Really like the protagonist's voice, too. To be honest, in the manga his boredom sort of made me feel bored as well. In this incarnation, I'm having more fun.

@redhotchilimist: once a wise man called BigJeffrey said it me: Do it.

Gintama 292 this episode was comedy gold, the one few seconds scene with Shinpachi just killed me. New op and en kinda meh for me, that is rare for gintama.

Also I remembered there was some controversy regarding particular season of Monogatari or am I just dreaming? There are a few scenes where I am not ok with , but meh it could be worse.

Watched the first episode of blue-jacket Lupin.
It's so damn good already.

it really captures the vibe of the classic series, the story is fun & laid-back, while still having enough exciting moments to keep you at the edge of your seat, and the voice actors also do a great job with the characters, giving the whole thing an energetic vibe.

However, the best part for me... is the art. The look & feel of the animation and the overall design stays true to the classic, retro vibe that the show should have. However, it modernizes everything in such a smart way. Like, okay, I know classic series have been modernized before, and we've seen art styles get updated, but the art here is different. It shows everything digital animation could be doing. It's what I've always wanted modern anime to look like, and it almost brings a tear to my eye with how good it looks.

I know Halloween is just around the corner is and all, but October isn't ready for all of these anime princesses. Watched Heavy Object, Asterisk, and Rakudai Kishi back to back (then I re-watched Aldnoah) and I deja-vu-ed like a motherfucker. -10/10 would not recommend.

The new Gundam show seems okay. Certainly a lot more watchable than Reconguista.

@bigjeffrey: I thought this scene was a bit funny, even tough it is apparent what it means, it just did not registered with me as being something really bad. The scenes when Araragi kissing one of the lolis those felt really weird for me, espcially in a dramatic moment.

@bigjeffrey: If you just want something bad, Fractale starts out looking promising and then plummets into disappointment.

Watched the two final episodes of Kekkai Sensen(I had been saving the second to last one). Speaking of something bad. I don't know if this is a non-native English speaker issue or just a writing issue, but I found the dialogue to be either completely obvious or incomprehensible. A lot of it is "As long as you're facing towards the light, the human spirit will never be extinguished" and similar, too. It's dumb. Reminds me more of Coppelion than the earlier episodes of Kekkai Sensen. The actual relationships are alright, but the things people do and what they say in these couple of episodes, I think are terrible. It's a bad end to a show I like a lot.

@bigjeffrey: Mezzo DSA

-

As for what's gettin' watched 'round these parts:

  • Ore Monogatari was cute. Supreme adorableness.
  • Kuroko's Basketball season 2 was better than the first season. It's just getting more and more monster-battle-y.
  • High School of the Dead is better than expected.
  • Mr.Osomatsu - Funny first episode. Where do they go from here? I want to know. Also baby wieners will never not be a weird inclusion in anime.
  • Fist of the North Star ~ 32 ~ Still into it, but in pretty much all instances where the series and the movie cover the same stuff I prefer the movie version.

Some details on Studio Trigger's new anime have come out, here.

It's called Kiznaiver. Pretty much all the head creative staff seems to be different than Kill La Kill. So I'm wondering what Imaishi and Sushio are working on. Anyways, it's written by Mari Okada, who's currently doing the Iron Blooded Gundam show. She said she came up with the title of the show before the story, which surely bodes well. I'm looking forward to it regardless. Character designs look alright.

@bigjeffrey: Bad anime, you say? I've recently been going through the bottom 100 ranked anime on MAL. Most of them aren't 12 episodes long, but... here's a few suggestions:

  • Arcade Gamer Fubuki - not actually part of the bottom 100, but I ended up watching it because the DVD special for the show was.
  • Cosprayers - A show about scantilly clad ladies who get their magic powers from... cosplay. Yet, it doesn't even focus on that aspect very well and manages to just feel like kind of an odd, strange mess.

I'd suggest more, but... those seem to be the only ones that are like, bad entertaining instead of just bad bad.

  • Sakurako EP1 - Felt gimmicky and pointless. Might drop.
  • The Perfect Insider EP1 - So, the professor is pretty much just Inio Asano's ideal anime version of himself, huh? Complete with the animal t-shirts and chain smoking. Not much to say right now. It's mostly setting things up for the future episodes. It's nice that they try to tell the story organically rather than through exposition. Also the OP is one of the best straight out the gate. Wouldn't mind if a bit of its style was implemented into the show.

@bigjeffrey: Here's a few more shit piles for good measure

  • Fuuun Ishin Dai☆Shogun
  • Dog Scissors
  • Kenzen Robo Daimidaler

I'm not even sure Shogun qualifies as anime because it's more like a series of still images every few seconds...or minutes. Daimidaler is in a league of it's own. I'm not sure what constitutes a national treasure, but I'm pretty sure Daimidaler deserves to be one. For those of you who haven't seen it, I highly suggest that you avoid any and all synopses, go in blind, and enjoy the ride.

I apologize in advance to other duders since I'm using the mobile site so I can't use spoiler tags. :(

@edgaras1103: To be fair, said character at that point would have been older than Araragi had she not been an "oddity" (trying to be vague here since I don't want to be too spoilery). Yeah I know still looks look a kid, etc. but I don't think it really ruin that moment for me.

Also should I start watching bad anime? Is Photo Kano a good bad anime?
