(NOT ROLLERBLADING) My shoes just died, i was tryin to learn kickflips and i wore my shoe down to my skin, im having a hard time deciding the ones i should buy next, the ones i had were fallens and they were pretty good to me, they lasted about 3 months. Ive had them longer then that but the winter was a bitch to skate in, what brand should i buy next that will last a while? thanks for any help.
Any skaters?
Aw, I was gonna say, I totally played a ton of Roller Hockey as a kid.
I don't skateboard, but I'm curious: your shoes were good, and they only lasted 3 months? How fast do you normally go through shoes?
I've been skating (very rarely now) for about 3 years. My first year I skated a lot but the last 2 I barely have so I'm still total shit. On topic though, my favorite shoes have always been Lakai, Emerica, and Es. I really can't say how long they've lasted cuz as I said, I've always been pretty shitty and never skated a pair of shoes enough to fuck them up terribly. I'd reccomend Lakai though, as I wore those for like 2 years and didn't seem to have any issues with them.
As for new shoes, look for anything with a good (preferably leather) ollie guard. They'll last longer, esp if you use Shoe Goo to take care of them.
Save money by getting last years models on ebay, because you will burn through those suckers pretty fast, even with proper care. Luckily, the world is filled with posers who sell unused shoes just because they's the wrong model or brand. Exploit that.
I used to skate, but my old, broken body isn't having it anymore.

It doesn't matter what shoes u wear. They are all going to get f-ed up in the end.
As for skateboarding, I hardly ever touch my old-style deck anymore. A few months ago I picked up Longboarding because i live on a mountain and it's soooo much more fun bombing down a hilll on a longboard. Currently I am using a Landyachtz Evo and i love it.
they also dont sell it to anyone under 18 which makes no fucking sense. and the world isnt filled with posers its over populated with them, whenever i see someone with a skateboard i challenge them to a game of skate, 4/5 times theyll refuse, theres a ridiculous amount of kids that wear dgk shirts, skate shoes, but dont even know how to ollie." " @TheJohn said:Dude, tbh, fuck DGK, DC, Element, Osiris, and all the mainstream cool "gangster shit" they put out now. I mean, I may not be the best skater but i was raised on it. Growing up my parents owned a skate shop which later turned into a skate park (that's now closed unfortunately) and my brother has been skating his whole life. So, I know what I'm talking about most of the time and I always see little kids rolling on their rasta grip tape elements with DC hats cocked to the side who ride with a grin and can't do shit and it pisses me off. I mean, it's all just an image now and it isn't even about skating most of the time. Just "looking cool".they also dont sell it to anyone under 18 which makes no fucking sense. and the world isnt filled with posers its over populated with them, whenever i see someone with a skateboard i challenge them to a game of skate, 4/5 times theyll refuse, theres a ridiculous amount of kids that wear dgk shirts, skate shoes, but dont even know how to ollie. Sorry for ranting but I see too many of these kids.
Get a pair of Supras that have the TUF coating. Not only do they last, but look totally bitchin too.
Doing tricks isn't the only thing you can do on a skateboard. I can do a few, but I have never really even tried to learn tricks myself; so I would deny you a game of SKATE as well. Does this mean that I am not a skateboarder? I don't think so. The fact that I have spent over eight years on a board, and love spending time on it makes me a skateboarder.
I ride a long board pretty regularly, tons of fun and real fast. Here's a video of some guys getting over seventy miles an hour in Brazil.

"yes but im sure you can at least ollie, it doesnt take 8 years to learn how to ollie, i mean unless you want to get off your board everytime you see a curb, even just using a board to get around the place without driving is better then what these kids do, they wear the clothing but dont even have a board, i believe poser is the best word for it, theyre stealing skaters fashion statements rofl.
When I was a bit younger the guys at the skatepark made me try boarding, I turned out to be decent and learned the basics.
Kinda stopped there too, I can do basic stuff like ollie/nollie, boardslides, flips and some flatland stuff, which I blame Rodney Mullen for, guy is ace!
True. I can ollie. Not well mind you, but I can ollie, kickflip, do a couple of grinds and such; even though I bail 75% of the time I try. i also never walk around in DC's while wearing super tight jeans that I bought pre-beat up, and a sideways cap from Emerica and Vans T.
i recommend es or lakai they seem to last me long and i have had my current pair of es for 4 mounths and they only just started showing sign of falling apart.
" When I was a bit younger the guys at the skatepark made me try boarding, I turned out to be decent and learned the basics.Hell yeah, I love Rodney Mullen. Sadly my skills on the skateboard never reached beyond wimpy ollies. Had some good times trying to learn though. :P

One of the reasons I stopped, next to boredom, was my weak ankles.
Twisted them so many times, the doctor advised me to stop before I'd ruin my ability to walk :P
Had great times with the neighbourhood kids challenging me to ollie/grind stuff or holding flatland contests, damn I miss those days!
I can't skate anything: skate boards, roller skates, roller blades, ice skates, none of that shit. I use to have a skate board when I was a kid but I can barely ride around on it let alone do tricks. We did use to have a long and step driveway made of smooth concrete they we use to "luge" down on it. And I think I might of tried to ice skate at a rink once for a school event but I ended up playing air hockey all night with a buddy of mine who had an equal disinterest in skating.
