Last weekend I completed my first 48 Hour Film Project. It was pretty swish, and I went in with an amazing cast and crew, and left with a funny film and sleep depravation.

If you don't know what the 48HFP is, it's a worldwide competition that pits local filmmakers against each other to make a film in 48 hours from conception to handing it in. You're given a theme, a character, a prop, and a line you have to use in the film.

Ours was 'detective/cop', and we experimented with a narrative drama about a time travelling detective before saying 'fuck it' and making a short about love cops who interrogate assholes. It was very odd. Very, very odd. We got it in with three minutes to go, running through Leicester Square and shouting "Get out of my way!" at oncoming pedestrians. It was dramatic.

I was wondering if any bombers had ever entered, and what their experiences were like?

Post your film if you have it! I'll post mine once the competition is over.

Yes I did it awhile back (about a couple months ago) but I live on the west coast so mabey our rules are different from other places, I don't know. But it was alot of fun but also alot of work aswell, I went with a friend from church and he makes commercials so he has had some experience and has done 48 hour films before. I couldn't belive that something that's only about 8 minutes long would take so much work! Everything from the writing to the acting and all the othe stuff requires alot from you, and man was I tired and exhausted by the time it was over.

But it was worth it, I would say that the biggest issue though is making sure you have dedicated people, alot of people think "Oh I want to be in a movie" but they don't really care about the film and arn't dedicated to it, so you have to make sure you find the right people who are passionate. This was my first experience with the 48 hour film project but I learned alot, I was responible for sound which I did ok I guess, but it could have been better, but we didn't exactly have the best equipment on site. Still our film turned out to be well done and it was pretty funny...

We had the "action/adventure" genre but it had to be in modern times, also we had to have a wig as our required prop. And we had to have the line "your in over your head" in the film, it turned out great and I was one of the guards in a scene (our story revolved around trying to steal a lost data file with a treasure location imbedded in them). We had a ton of fake airsoft guns that we got from a friend but they looked real and felt real, they had all the mechanisms of real guns but there was no orange cylinder. And we were filming in an office building where my friend works and it was closed that day, however people outside saw us running around with fire arms and they called the police a few times lol, the police were cool about it and let us keep filming, but man we were getting some crazy looks from people lol.

Our film was called "The Adventures of Mighty Mac" so check it out, I would post a link but right now I'm too lazy lol.

Bunch of pussies! Try going in a 24 hour festival where you have to shoot in continuity and edit 'in-camera'. Not to mention having to use at least five of a certain number of locations or landmarks dictated by the competition.

That's what you have to do in the Shoot Out Film Festival here in Australia. It's brutal.
