Yeah! I mean, what is this whole women "spend most of their internet time either on social networks or shopping?" I mean, when do they even find time for the internet? With all that raising the kids, doing the laundry, and making the food, I wouldn't even think they could find the time to sit on the internet.

The real question is, who is the man (or traitor) who said "ok" when his wife said she was stepping out of the kitchen?

I don't think any woman needed an approval for emancipation. Or do you guys need our ok to do something?

I desperately seek approval from anyone willing to give it.

Ha ha it's so misogynist to suggest women spend a lot of time on social media. It's not like women are the target demographic of a social media gaming industry that's stacking cash to the ceiling right now.

I'm most certainly not ignoring facts and pretending to be offended to convince internet strangers I'm a real progressive dude so if any hot babes want to pm me to chat just holla.

This answers my question. I guess what I would say is, its cool that information is so easily available that you don't need an advanced degree to get it anymore. Democratization of thingsis both good and bad. nostalgia for things just because they are old particularly if you didn't live through them is slightly odd to me but ok i guess. Look i had 56k until my freshman year of college. But even that had to have been easier than the dial-in BBS stuff days that Jeff and Ryan wax rhapsodic about.

I said they use social networks, not social media games. Statistically, women use the internet for conversing and staying in touch with friends more compared to men. And that's what social networks are about.

OF all things to write about being "too easy these days"

When they finally mainstream those cars that drive themselves and you just put in GPS coordinates theres gonna be a lot of oldschoolers than wanna burn brodies in the back of a Costco parking lot.

Let me pick this genius up off the floor and make the point he is trying to make. People are more comfortable dealing with the vast landscape of the internet in small consumable doses. They want the internet to be accessible so they are gravitating back to centralized portals as opposed to exploring for themselves. Facebook is exactly what AOL used to be, just no discs in the mail. The one place on the internet you can go to interact with friends, get news, play games, and even shop to some extent. It is a bit of a digression and it is a result of the medium catering to the masses. Or rather the masses getting comfortable with it. The nice thing is that even tho this digression has happened we can all use the internet freely and how we choose. And consume as many sites or create as many site as we want. So don't let the trend get you down fair post creator. Just continue to enjoy the internet and allow those that choose to limit themselves and their usage of it be less enlightened.

Try navigating the internet only by using links provided by spam emails while having no virus protection or adblock installed. Pretty sure there's an achievement for it, worth about 200g.

I had no intention to annoy you, nor did I really knew what you meant. I just thought I should remind people (like you) that speaking of "the internet" means speaking about "the people".

Because the internet is what we make it. So if you chose to make the internet a place where insults towards women like "bitch" or "bimbo" becomes somewhat casual, you have to deal with the reaction.

And a simple call for more civility towards the female gender isn't really a reason to call me names like "Sandy V. Agina". It just makes you look like a primitive, immature person.

At least I'm having fun. All the dumb jokes like "women should stay in the kitchen!!"-jokes amuse me. Because that's what dumb jokes do.
And since I was never here to impress anyone I'm not afraid to be myself instead of some fake personality and I laugh at dumb and overused jokes (why else would I find the Bombcast funny? :P )

Take them as dumb jokes that you can laugh at for being outdated and stupid or go cry in a corner.

Personally I think posting has gotten a bit TOO easy as well. We should all have to put in randomly generated codes e-mailed to our accounts every time we make a post. Kinda getting tired of the kiddy way we get reply boxes served up on a platter around here. Better yet you should have to compile the reply page in HTML yourself every time.

Well I do remember when there wasn't an Internet, and also when there was a slow, shitty, low-content Internet with crappy search engines and HTML-only pages, and it sucked. Well it was awesome at the time, but it sucked compared to today's Internet. I don't look to the Internet for problem-solving challenges. Enough of those in daily life, school, work, family, even video games. I want the Internet to be easy and to do shit for me. That's a large part of the point.

@RenMcKormack:

Where are you getting nostalgia from dude? I never said I missed how difficult it used to be (because I had already said I wasn't alive for it...) I was just trying to say that that difficulty was good for the sole purpose of forcing people to have to problem solve, instead of getting it on a silver platter. I never Had to experience that, it sounds Terrible! and im waaaaaay too lazy to want to give up the simple nature of the thing I use everyday. Even going so far as to Say: " I don't think that we should make the internet purposefully more difficult to use" <---------------------

dude, im INCREDIBLY grateful that I was born with enough time for technology to become real easy to use, and its Fucking Incredible that I can find out just about anything I want with a few button pushes, But I try to take advantage of how easy it is by trying to do cool stuff with it. But Alot of people out there would just use the easy parts of the internet without giving the other infinite possibilities of awesomeness a chance, and I was just using how un-intuitive the internet used to be as an example of a hurdle people had to get over; and in jumping that hurdle you would also probably learn things about other aspects of the internet which would perhaps pique your interest in something else because of the experience. I would HATE to have to do That though.

My overall question (or at least what I was Trying to get across) was how can we get people to Want to educate themselves, when its so easy to get whatever you want? I mean, what if the Apocalypse happened tomorrow, Internet went down, cell service & electricity too, I would want those survivors to be at least a little resourceful, Hell I'd break down after not too long if the Internet died forever :/ Which means im still learning! (please christ don't take away my ability to watch the Endurance Run over and over)

@vikingdeath1: Why'd you refer to "dumb bimbos" surfing the net? The dumb people surfing the net (and infecting their PC's with viruses and trojans they get from all the porn sites) are men, while women, or "bimbos", as you call them, spend most of their internet time on either social networks or shopping. What's dumber? I'd say the porn.

Speaking as someone who fixes computers at my college's IT department, men and women are just as likely to have virus-infested computers. You assume way too much about this particular topic.

@vikingdeath1 said:

That innovation in usability is certainly a good thing, and I don't think that we should make the internet purposefully more difficult to use or anything (that's just silly) but I guess that's what I'm asking; anyone know what I'm talking about? I sure don't.

You seem to be saying that people should know more about this tool, the internet, that they're using, and should at least try to fix their own issues before coming to get help. To that I say most definitely! I think people in general don't know enough about computers, many of them (again, experienced a bit here) have never even installed a program or incessantly call the entire computer a "monitor" or the tower a "hard drive". These inaccuracies bug the hell out of me sometimes.

Pfft. I was online before the internet was cool. I had two multi-node BBS's running Renegade and Wildcat! 4.0. You could play the super awesome Legend of the Red Dragon or 4 player Doom.

I wrote an article on the way back when days of the internet. You can find it at:

http://www.geocities.com/SilliconValley/iamneo6969/index.html

I hope you don't mind, the site's under construction! But, its proudly coded in notepad!

YOU TAKE THAT BACK!
