So I was cruising around Corvallis Oregon (where I live and go to school) and I noticed something a little out of the ordinary in my downtonwn. In case you either didn't read the title or are irredeemably dense, it was a masonic temple.

Who knew they still made these things?
Who knew they still made these things?
Given the small size of Corvallis (around 50 thousand) it's odd that I wouldn't have noticed this before. However a little bit of googling turned up some interesting info. Apparently the lodge still operates and accepts members. On further reflection Corvallis is relatively old, so the idea that this temple would be tucked between two stores occupying a small amount of space on an innocuous street isn't that surprising I guess.
This kinda got me wondering about the existence of other masonic orders in towns either around America or in Europe. It'd be great if people maybe did a quick google for their town and reported back their findings. (It's easy, for example typing in "corvallis masonic temple" turned up their website) Is anybody here a mason or do they know someone who is one?  My guess is that we're only gonna be seeing Masonic Temples in towns that are a little bit older, but then again I could be completely wrong. Anyways I guess I just find it odd that something that I only really ever see referenced in literature or film is actually exigent within my community, and I kinda just want to hear peoples experiences or information.

There are masonic lodges all over america. Oh right, I told you I won't reply to you again, however yeah, they are all over america and if you know their history it goes way back to europe. I know alot about them, however research it yourself, to the 33rd degree.

There are masonic lodges EVERYWHERE! UK, Canada, US, Australia. They go where whitey goes!

And I wouldnt worry too much, they're pretty much just boy scouts for grown ups.

It's a place for old dudes to hang out and get away from their nagging wives, or they worship Satan. Either one.

Lower level mason ppl thinks it's just a fraterinty knowing nothing about what they joined. The higher levels of ppl knows about their world domination plans and occult status and they have harsher punishments for ppl letting out it's real secrets the higher level you go. 1/3 of all presidents were free masons btw. Even more lower level politicians. You think ppl are going to act crazy when they are in a luciferian belif system, however most of these ppl are rich, well organised and has a very nice looking lodge on the surface. < >

@eskimo: Oh I'm not worried! I just think it's kinda interesting you know? I was considering trying to join just to see what it's about, but apparently you have to believe in God in some form. Which I don't so that was kind of a problem.

@Gamer_152:  Well in my defense he said he wasn't going to respond to me! I figured we could have a relatively normal discussion over what's apparently a relatively common fixture in many towns all over the world. How crazy is that?

I was more joking than anything but yeah, it's interesting how after saying he wouldn't respond to you Hitman has responded twice. Personally I didn't know that these lodges were common across the US, let alone that any existed here in the UK, and it is interesting. As has been posted above I'm sure it's mainly just a place for older guys to hang out.

@HitmanAgent47:  You forgot the hidden degrees. George W's grand pappy, Aleister Crowley might use his sex magik and touch you in your sleep tonight as an apparition. He didn't spend all those years learning about the degrees and shaping the American version of the Bavarian Illuminati of 1776 for nothing.

The alphabet is obviously a Masonic control device. Only by using a non-triangular alphabet can we escape the confines of Freemason thought control.

Also, if you make a peace sign with your pointer and middle finger and put the tips of your fingers on a table, it makes a triangle. Thus indicating that Masons invented hands and possibly tables.

@Tman_91: perhaps the illuminati infiltrated the free masons to the highest levels, there are more than 33 degrees, there are higher levels which are in control most doesn't know about, ppl that are top of the pyramid. Lol at aleister crowley, the so called most evil man in the world.

@beej: we have one where i live, Ballarat, Australia and we have about 90,000 people here atm but the place has been here since at least the 50's when there would have been 40-50,000. Iv seen them in towns here that have less than 5000 people, tho that might be because the town used to be a lot bigger. Both the Ballarat temple and the Sebastapol (a suburb) temple are for sale atm. Was hoping to get inside one for a look, didnt happen tho.
Also, both my grandfathers were masons. That sort of freaked me out when i found out, was literally like a few weeks after seeing National Treasure.

George washington wore a similar apron in an early painting of him. He's part of the free masons and maybe they were looking to expand their organisation.

@HitmanAgent47:  Oh yeah, I know man. Just messing, it's not too often people tend to know there stuff. Manly P. Hall even suggested himself that there were hidden degrees past the 33rd. I'm more inclined to agree with one of there greatest minds if he says something about an organization for decades. Adam Weishaupt helped the Rothschilds over there in Europe and George Washington was a great mason. Has nothing directly to do with this just felt like catching a case of typing tourettes. (No offense to anyone with tourettes)

There is a Masonic hall just up the road from me, I had no idea what it was or why it was called a "Masonic" hall until reading this thread and now I am worse off because of it.

If you were a freemason you would just lie about it.
I remain skeptical. It would take a lot of proof to actually be certain you aren't one of them.

@HitmanAgent47:  I bet all higher level free masons are laughing at everyone who think they are plotting to take over the world, when they in fact aren't. And I bet the reason they aren't saying anything is because they want to see how far these conspiracy theories can go.

@foggel: You use the word bet alot, which is speculation. Yes obama is also a freemason, however he is also part of another sub organisation trying to take over the world creating a new world order called CFR, the council of foriegn relations. Many ppl who are part of these sub organisations are freemasons too. They even host alot of the secret meetings of the power elite in their lodges.

I haven't read every post in this thread btw, some of them I've skipped. Or don't acknowledge anymore that they exist.

Okay, does this CFR really exist? Or am I making it up? Barrack is an unofficial member, look the CFR was created after a global government group, ppl protested them and they didn't go for it. They later on created the CFR to replace that and the CFR had a part of creating the united nations.

I doubt it is about all the knights templar crap any more.  More about being in a club or a union.  Like over here a lot of the cops are masons so if you want to have fast promotion you dress up like an idiot once a month and learn a silly handshake.  Like politicians going to church all the time until they are elected.

@evanbrau: Excuse me? What did you just say to me? there are real documentaries that are not on youtube about these sort of things. I moved out of youtube user documentaries weeks ago, now i've probally watched almost every single conspiracy documentaries and one of them was on the freemasons. Wiki is also a good source, also checking out real freemason websites helps. Look  this stuff exist whether you think it's insane or not, powerful ppl has money and power and wants more control, something you won't understand.

Instead of actually looking up the info I wrote and debunking it. You have nothing except your crazy, when your views are shaped by hyponosis tube of television and the news. Calling others crazy when you can't even defeat or debunk my points, even if the entire site researched and tried to counter my arguement, you can't. You have no facts except to call others crazy. You believe in ufos, 2012, life on other planets and all sorts of stuff from movies because you based your reality on what you see and hear, which means you can be manipulated if the media is controlled.

Nope sorry it's even worse than the youtube documentaries. You're going to be treated as crazy for as long as you're into this stuff. None of this stuff is real, you will never, ever be vindicated because none of it is true. Never has been, never will be. There are plenty of very real problems for people to worry about without made up ones.

There's one in my town too (though your definition of "small" is out of whack, as my town is closer to 8 thou). The one in my town is smaller and less obvious though (and from what I can tell based on the geography of the area, it has a network of tunnels under it).
