Do you mean like converting a loft into usable space, or "lofts" as in, buying a trendy loft apartment in manhattan lofts?

Yes, all lofts are unequivocally good investments. Buy as many as you can afford.

No, I meant a loft conversion. As in, a place to live in that was once a warehouse, storehouse etc.

Like @RollingZeppelin implied, it depends on many factors that you haven't offered. The neighborhood and cost and amount of fixing up required are all pretty important.
