The Super Metroid race was definitely my highlight of the event so far. It was amazing on so many levels. Not just that it was incredibly skillful and neck and neck from start to finish, but the commentary from Sinister and Golden was just masterful. You would think they'd been doing it for years.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 January 5th -11th!
This event is pretty awesome. I'm pretty impressed at what these guys can do. I really should do something better with my time.
But this expert Super Mario Galaxy 2 platforming is just too engaging. :)
@fattony12000: Chat Monitor is Best Monitor.
@bane122: Yeah, they had a hand camera at the bottom of the screen. Crazy. Reminds me of the fucking Blind Folded Punch-Out / Super Punch-Out runs.
I know it makes perfect sense them using a pre-determined seed and using dupes but it kind of takes away a bit of my interest in this Minecraft speedrun.
@capum15: Yeah that kind of made up for my initial disappointment lol
@fattony12000: I was waiting for this to be posted. *right click, save as
@happenstance: Yeah. I was kinda 'eh' about the dupes, but then again they've glitched the fuck out of like, what, 99% of all the other games?
@capum15: Here is just the image if you wanted it
Only two runs left to go. (Albeit long-ass ones.) AGDQ is steadily drawing to a close :(
There's always bonus stream shenanigans to look forward to. Hopefully Blueglass does an Ecco run at some point.
Both of Ryan's Chrono Trigger names have been overtaken, but there's still time!
One of the guys sitting in on the couch (don't know anyone's name, this's my first time watching this) for the Windwaker run sounds exactly like Ian.
@happenstance: That is fantastic.
Edit: Also, underwater Red Lion was great. Also also, pwing, pwing, pwing...
I wish we could funnel all the money bid on naming Crono "Brono" and put it towards naming Robo "Ryand," instead.

Yeah, we need to make this happen:

Dudes playing Punchout blindfolded right now. If you're not already watching get your asses over there.
isn't this game a Rhythm game anyway? I mean every attack has a different sound you have to react to. If you play this game over and over again I see it not that difficult^^
Repeat after me. Pattern recognition games are not rhythm games. Playing pattern recognition games that depends on visual cues while blinded folded is not easy by any means. Got it? Good.
2poch is holding on, but it looks like Ryand is going to fall short. Meanwhile I'm being absolutely astounded by these multi-hour runs. The amount of memory and concentration required is incredible.
Edit: Bendr just got a $637 donation. Shit.
Can't say I'm a fan of Zelda or Cosmo but you can't argue with the donations hes pulling in. $1m is looking very doable at this point.
@jjor64: Oh, that's awesome. I only caught about 4 or so games during their Summer stream last year, first time really watching a lot of it now.
That was an awesome Wind Waker run.
Sadly, it doesn't seem RyanD will make it for Brobo's name. God damnit I need to rewatch that Endurance Run now. The names were so dumb but perfect. And when they found out that OP explosion move+ring thing...
Also, dance party!
Oh, I see. I do find his laugh a bit loud and annoying but the dude's usually got some bit of knowledge about whatever is being played and probably more than most he deserves to be up there.
From what I understand from sinister1, he's been around SDA from the start or very nearly. It's a shame the way twitch chat acts about him (twitch chat being terrible, a shocker, I know).
Short of Drake showing up and donating a week of his Diet Coke fund, I don't think RyanD is gonna happen.
Edit: Reportedly 30min left before they hit him
@bane122: Yeah, I haven't watched the chat past the first day. It's one of the worst Twitch chats I've ever seen. Not surprising with the amount of people watching, but the homophobic and racial slurs were coming left and right when I was watching (and the irony of people watching ADGQ calling the people in the room nerds is quite funny). I'm not surprised Bluegrass got shit in the chat, it's the same cesspool as the YT comments.
I don't follow the speedrunning community outside these events, but from what I understand he's done a lot for the community. I like the dude.
