Is there any band you feel embarrassed about liking?
Personally, there's a band called Alesana that I'm really enjoying. I feel like I shouldn't, but I do.
How about you?
Bands you feel embarrassed about liking?
I hate to be *that* guy, but I'm not embarrassed or ashamed of liking any of the bands or artists I listen to. I listen to pretty much everything from Black Flag to The Drifters to NWA so I get lots of people telling me that stuff I listen to is crap. After a while you realize they are all idiots and ignore them.
I do however leave out certain bands or artists I like depending on who I'm talking to, like a cute girl. NO girl wants to hear me tell them that Rush is a fantastic band. NO girl understands how great David Bowie's Let's Dance album is.
Alesana, I saw them live!
They sounded like teenage boys on stage, but I guess they actually were...
Only band I feel a lil embarrassed about must be Ot3P.
It's a very good band, but it's rather dark and the lyrics can be something else.
Not music you'd put on with your door wide open on a summer day...least I wouldn't.
Dragonforce.
I recognize that they're terrible musicians from a technical point of view, but goddamnit if Once in a Lifetime didn't get me through a rough time in my life...
For me it's a band called Gliss. Not so much embarrassed as it's a band I like that I don't really tell anyone, haha.
Emmure. I realize everything but their first album is basically crap, but I still love listening to them. To me, it's the same as enjoying a stupid action movie. It's put together horribly, the dialogue sucks, but it's still awesome.
I can see where your coming from.
The "BR00T4L" kids :(
I just stay away from the fan base these days.
I feel kinda embarrassed whenever my stepparents witness me listening to Scandal (The all-girl J-Rock band, not that shitty R&B group from two decades ago!)

I guess if i had to pick id say Green Day and My Chemical Romance since were in a time where there cool to hate. Also theres A Fine Frenzy since i dont know how cool it is to like a chick and her piano but she has a nice voice and its rather peaceful music to throw on while playing through a frustraring game.

But im the same way, im not ashamed of anything i listen to. I love all the bands i listen to, no exceptions.
I will shamelessly listen to Hannah Montana if it is on the radio, I will even roll down my car's windows and sing along.
At the same time I listen to powerviolence, shoegaze, and indie shit, which I'm not ashamed of either.

"Its not cool to hate Green Day, their new album is just a copy and paste of American Idiot. The first act of the album was enjoyable but it all went downhill after that, it could have been much better. I really liked American Idiot despite old fans saying its nothing like their old stuff, which is the main reason i liked it. Their old music became way to wash and repeat, but it seems they went back into that trend. And i wont comment on My Chemical Romance, from what i heard of them i hated, but i wont give an opinion on a band that i only heard a few songs from.
No, because I don't give a shit about what people think about the music I like. If I like the song I like the song. I'm not going to deprive myself of something I enjoy because some idiots around me don't like it.
I don't mind admitting that I like some "scene" bands like Alesana, Vanna, Pierce the Veil, etc. The actual music is pretty shitty, but it's good workout music and some of the fans tend to be cool people (unlike a bunch of uppity hipster douchebags).
I am embarrassed to like some pretty girly bands, like Mayday Parade, My Chemical Romance, All Time Low, Artist vs. Poet, etc.
My musical taste depends very much on my mood :|
hmm, for me it would probably have to be Little Boots, maybe just because it has a strong liking amongst other communities.
