Goodness! Being a "booth-babe" is a pretty thankless job. There are a lot of wierdos out there!
Anyone ever seen guys acting like this at the conventions?
Also, it just occured to me: They must have a proper job title? Their official job description cant really be 'booth babe' can it?

There one step away from being strippers. Perhaps next year we''ll start seeing bouncers.
Anyways, they only need to lure men, and I have to say, the product hasn't been invented that will lure me away from a pretty women after I entered a booth. Its a fine line between admiration, and being just creepy.
Booth-babes are there to ogle and hoot at. That's their purpose, too get guys more excited for a product they may have just overlooked. If the girls don't like it, they should get into a different line of work. When you put yourself out there like that, what do you expect will happen.

Sounds about right. Probably just one of various modelling gigs.
@Myrmidon:
Yeah, I'm torn between sympathy for the poor women and LOL at the creepiness!

Maybe I would have some sympathy if the women in question weren't like turds bitching about attracting flies.
I don't approve of the touching issue, but standing and smiling isn't the worst job in the world. I find it hard to have that much sympathy for them when nurses, waitresses and retail sales often require standing for long periods of time and interacting with the common public. They understand that they are being paid to look pretty and draw attention to the product. This is not brain surgery. Should they be treated poorly by the clientele? Of course not, but no one in any profession should be abused by the customer.
By the way, they are called "promotional models".

I agree to a certain extent, but at the same time there is a line that gets crossed. These girls have to realise that there are lots of weirdos out their, and if they don't want the attention of people who have no idea how to interact with attractive women, then they should find a line of work where the main qualification isn't being pretty. Lots of people have shitty jobs they they have to work themselve to the bone for. They have jobs that they got because they were lucky genetically. They should be happy that they can get away with just looking pretty for a living

Don't hire booth babes, if we want to go see a game at an event we will most likely find it ourselves, just stop, it's really puerile, not everybody that plays games is some horny 19 year old living in his mom's basement.
Trying to stray away from the downright assholish tone of some of the posts in this thread, yeah, I'm sure as a model you meet all sorts of fucked up people. But the thing is, when your job relies on you attracting horny men to drive attention to the product you are shilling, what do you expect?
Um...being a "booth babe" is just another modeling gig. Whatever. It's not flashy or glamorous, like walking a fashion show or anything, but it's not supposed to be. You're hired to pass out fliers, look hot and smile. It pays, you get experience, nothing wrong with that. If you find it degrading, then don't be a part of it.
Myself, I usually just say hi, take a picture of them (sometimes with them), chat them up a bit, and leave. Not that I'm degrading towards them or anything, nor am I pandering to them, but I'll usually just strike up a conversation for a bit, since often they look bored and somewhat repulsed by the idiots (possibly myself included) who've ogled them in the past few hours or so.
With that said, booth babes are people too! Viva la revolucion!
That was a funny read. Also I do agree that the guys are assholes but I don't see why the booth babes should bitch when your going to model at a VIDEO GAME CONVENTION. There will obviously will be pervert and stupid nerd encounters.

What kind of punk goes to a nerd convention just to touch a girl's rack? That's just wrong. Show some respect, gentlemen.

But that's STILL this one step away. Calling a woman a whore because she is good looking, is hired to use these good looks to advertise something and because she is complaining about being straight out molested is asshattery. Would you call your girlfriend a whore because she got into a temporary job at E3? Hell naw.
Not to mention the fact that every motherfucker calling these women whores probably is just frustrated that a girl like that - no, wait, again: a random attractive woman on a damn street - would have no interested in even looking at them without a signed paycheck.
Also, bad comparison - if you touch a stripper in a club, you end up without your jaw and your ass raped by their union. Because unions are becoming more and more popular in this job.
Mixed feelings. I imagine a lot of models would be treated like this, especially when they are wearing skimpy clothing...that reminds me, there's a Hooters' relatively close to my college campus.
Does anyone remember this line from the car convention on the Simpsons?

Nah! But seriously, I don't go to a convention just to flirt with girls.
They know exactly what they are getting into, so I don't have much sympathy for them. I know it is usually just a starter gig that they have to do before they move up in modeling, but they know that beforehand.
