What are the best bluray movies to buy. So far I only have 3.

  • Troy

    Corpse Bride
    Quantum of solace

Not going by the quality of the movie it self (even though it would be nice) but the image quality. I want a bluray that actually shows the diference betwen DVDs and blurays.
I also watched Iron man and the dark knight on bluray too, so I'll be getting those ones as well.

Planet Earth, if you can find a good deal. I got the set for 50$ (but that's ten hours of content remember).

Death Race looks really good in blu ray, also I too recommend Wall-E if you like that movie, its awesome so you better like it.

Mmmm trying to stare across room at my bluray movies.. Kingdom of Heaven.. I have that, not sure how good it is on bluray =P I assume itl be pretty.

How about Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter? I own that on bluray haha. Only because it was cheaper than dvd for some reason.. terrible quality movie. Funny as hell though.

I don't own that many Blu-Ray movies right now.  Judging by the way it looked and sounded in theaters, Public Enemies is probably going to be amazing on Blu-Ray.

I've only seen Tropic Thunder in Blu-Ray. So...I'd recommend that.

@narley: The movie was shot entirely on Sony F23 professional high definition cameras(which will run you about $150K).  So yes, it's pretty much built for Blu-Ray.

@narley: Yeah basically. xD

Also @bucketdeth. Those are 2 good recommendations.

V and Sin City are both really stylized.
Those kinds of movies definitely look the best. I especially like how they use a lot of black in the movies, on my 65" plasma they look super nice. Plasma tvs are a pain though, but its worth it for the sexyer picture quality.

The Underworld Trilogy is pretty good on blu-ray.  Although hammy at times they're all still worth a watch.  I know that best buy has the package of all 3 movies for like $35 which is a sweet deal.

Seconded.  I think it usually runs for around $80, but I got mine for $60.  It's worth the price, though.

wait a bit for Watchmen, editors cut. It has amazing features and it has the deleted scenes in it. It is totally going to be worth it, believe me.

Hmmmm, Blade Runner Directors Cut Ultimate set thingy (it's awesome!), Band of Brothers, any of the Sean Connery 007 films (they look pretty amazing on Blu Ray).

I also knew that I would instantly recommend this.  If one doesn't want to buy it at its hefty price, he could do what my parents did.  They put it in their cue in Netflix.  It's was remarkable the first time I saw it.  I have the series now, and I occasionally go back and re-watch it.

Transformers looks amazing on Blu Ray, as does Wall-E as others have said. @CitizenKane said:

Any Pixar movie probably takes the cake. I've heard Wall•E looks AMAZING. Also, you might wanna look for movies that were filmed with HD cameras, like Once Upon A Time In Mexico.

The only people that didn't like Public Enemies are the people who don't like Michael Mann's movies and how he makes them.  If you like his movies, then you'll love Public Enemies.

I have Netflix so practically everything I see is on blu-ray.  You know, even though I laughed at the idea of it being packaged in with the Playstation 3, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby really looks different on blu-ray.  The race scenes are very well defined...of course it also means seeing every blemish and pore of Will Ferrell's face.   I can't recommend anything in particular other than to say get a Netflix subscription, pony up the extra charge for blu-ray and see everything new in the format.  You won't be able to watch films in normal DVD again.

EDIT: Oh, check out Hellboy 2: The Golden Army on blu-ray.  It was awesome.  I bought that one for my collection.

Any of the Pixar's look amazing, Wall-E is the finest in that regard.  Sin City is also good mainly cause it to is mostly CG.  Ironman probably one of the better newer ones.  Terminator 2 is probably the best of the pre digital films.

Also the Iron Maiden: Flight 666 and Foo Fighters: Live at Wemberly are amazing music blu-ray and are probably the best way to show off your home theatre if you have one.
