OK, slap me if this is a stupid question.
can i jump in to the final fantasy series?
OK, slap me if this is a stupid question.
Each final fantasy is set in an entirely different universe with its own characters and plot. Its not one long story arc. So yes of course you would. I wouldn't recommend XII though. Its the only ff game I never liked.
awesome guys that is great to know.

And yes, they aren't connected at all, besides Chocobos, Cid, and Airships.alsothegoldencat7 said:"Each final fantasy is set in an entirely different universe with its own characters and plot. Yah familliar themes recurrent in each. I would suggest you play the ps1 ffs though, theyre some of the best games of all time if ye ask me.
I think they all work just with a few minor issues. I still don't have a PS3 yet so I cant say for sure.
You can play them all separately and it really doesn't matter what order either. They have some creatures and other things that appear in most of them but nothing that involves the story.
"any other RPGs for the 360 or PS3 that i should check out?"
What kind of RPGs have you played? If your into JRPGs on 360 eternal sonata and lost odyssey are awesome.
If you can handle ps1 graphics, FF7 and 8 are my favs. and have the best stories. 9 is good too, chrono cross, legend of dragoon. then all the snes FF games 4 and 6 and chrono trigger.
If possible you should pick up a ps2, there are soooo many good rpgs, FF10 and 12 and a crap load of others. I have a bunch that are just waiting for me to play when I have summer in 5 more days!
"about how long is lost odyssey?"there is somewhere around 60-80 hours of gameplay time in the game.

"thegoldencat7 said:depends if it is one of the backwards compatable PS3s, which you should really check out. I've heard that even on bc PS3s they dont work quite right"Yah familliar themes recurrent in each. "any other RPGs for the 360 or PS3 that i should check out?"Tales of Vesperia is the only must-have so far
There are certain ideas and icons that run through each Final Fantasy but each story, universe, and characters are self contained. I'll probably be corrected by someone with my knowledge than me, but I think X-2 was the first true sequel in the long running franchise. When XIII hits you'll be okay.
Yes you definitely can considering how FF makes each iteration of their games. I'm not a huge fan of FF at all, but I know I'll be checking out FFXIII and Versus. There's not anything you need to know ahead of time or anything going into it fresh, each story is seperate and barely related except for the world and some references made in some of them.
