If you are saying this topic isn't about religion, why did you bother saying you are Christian? How does that change anything? You only want to meet other Christian gamers? Thats pretty stupid.
Religion has nothing to do with games, so you should keep it off this website too. Your topic is like 50% 'Hey i'm a gamer looking for some people with the same interests to game with', and the other 50% is 'Hey I only want to meet and talk to Christians, but I'm afraid to say that outright so I'll try and hide that behind some rules and a contradictory sentence saying that anyone can post.' Its quite ridiculous actually.
I'm not saying that telling somebody your political or religious views are wrong, but the way you went about this entire thread is all wrong. If you were looking for some cool dudes to game with, make the topic about that and start the topic with that, Instead of this weird 'Hey I'm only looking for a specific group of people so we can form a sheltered and polarized community away from those heathens'.
It just seems completely ignorant and insulting to me, and judging by most of the comments, everyone who isn't a 'Christian Gamer'.
And this coming from the guy with remarkably similar gaming interests, and being some sort of almost Christian.
" I'm a Jew and I play games. Any other Jews play games? Anyone can respond, but I'm really just looking for like-minded (read: Jewish) people to play with. I don't have much in common with non-Jews (goys), but you guys can post too I guess. "HAHAHAHAHH pure win right there well played (dont support organized religions so i am just congratulating a fellow human being for making a funny if thats ok with this topic)
So what the is point of creating a special commuinty for christian gamers if you are going to ignor the religion part.
You can't expect rational people to not make fun of religion.
And yes I'm saying that being a theist is irrational :)
Back on topic... Has anyone played the ridiculous fundie christian pc games? Only seen videos of them (too lazy to look for a youtube link) fucking hilarious though :)

Not that I have anything against Christianity, but why do you feel the need to say you're a christian gamer. and not just a gamer?

" im a buddist, and i play games. Im rare and i dont care. "I'm into buddhism, high five! I'm not a real buddist tho I just understand what buddhism is about.
I wonder if OP actually thought he was not going to be flamed for this...
I think I might be christian, I don't really know, I'm something...

Also, I'm not a big fan of any GTA or even most FPS's because of the violence, but I'm not Christian. Being religious or not doesn't always mean that you automatically hate or love violence. : /
This is like the gay gamer thread thing. No one cares what sexual orientations or spiritual beliefs are. Why would they?
I am a Christian gamer, and I feel that just like Christianity has fostered many advances in human history albeit some missteps here and there, it can invariably be part of the gaming industry as well. You could say that constructive games with a lot of freedom of choices and consequences could subsume many of Jesus' teachings, which entreat Christians to regard others with compassion and love. But as there are already websites that do espouse Christian perspective on games and cater to such subst of gaming population at large, those who are curious are advised to search them for a more releveant and fulfilling experience.
I am a primarily PC gamer, who enjoy games like Space Rangers 2, Men of War, STALKER, Tropico, EUIII and the like. More or less strategy games and FPSes, but I do not mind other genres such as RPGs, puzzle games. I also did enjoy sports games too, but with the state of sports games on PC being as it is...
This!" This thread seriously makes no sense. "Hey I'm Christian I bought some games, lets play them. But also it's cool if you're not Christian, we can still play games and talk". Isn't that just playing games online. "
Also, do we really need more ways to divide people into groups in an already way too torn appart world? Did you really had to mention christianity as a way to bring like minded gamers to you? I'm pretty sure the game's title and/or your favorite genres would've been more than enough. Sure you mention that anyone else is welcome, but I'm sure you realize that adding your personal faith and beliefs would be bound to cause some rackus. My opinion, anyway.
Why does it matter if anyone here's a christian? Getting together to play videogames hardly requires Christians. There's no need to bring religion into this if we aren't gonna talk about religion.
I don't understand why people think this is somehow dividing the community. If anything, the trolls who come to this thread to avoid the topic and just bitch at the OP are the ones who are trying to cause trouble. Grow up.

" @CRAzYKiLL3R93 said:Having an identity and being proud of it is not dividing yourself, sheeple." I dont understand why being a Christian has to do with anything. "Agreed. Nothing like finding more ways to divide an already divisive community. Why don't we forget all that bullshit and just yuk it up about, you know, games? "
" I don't understand why people think this is somehow dividing the community. If anything, the trolls who come to this thread to avoid the topic and just bitch at the OP are the ones who are trying to cause trouble. Grow up.Really? Explain to me what this thread is then? Cause i see a guy saying he's a Christian, which for some reason makes him a special brand of gamer than can only communicate with other Christian gamers. But then says that he's also fine with talking to none Christian gamers, which then defeats the entire purpose of the first question. And then he even goes on to say that he doesn't want to talk about religion even though he's the one that brought religion into the picture in the first place. He could have just said: "I'm a gamer and i'm looking for likeminded individuals."
@Lemoncookie01 said:"" *looks at the GB's responses to the thread* *shakes head* "
He wants to find other people who think the same way as him so that he can relate to other people and have a common value. What's wrong with that? The reason he said he doesn't want the thread to turn into a religion topic is because almost any time you mention a hint of religion on the internet, it turns into a theological debate which turns the thread away from what the OP intended and I see nothing wrong with that. Even when he wants to avoid the torrent of trolling that follows this kind of topic, people still find a way to bitch about it and make it the issue. It's not needed and none of this adds substance to the topic." @Herocide said:

For the same reason that someone created a New Zealand thread. Think of it this way - I very much doubt that the person who created that thread would want people going there and explaining why they think New Zealand is a crappy place to live. "something about a topic about christians always turns some immature people nuts, anyone willing to try making the same threat on atheism ( and no that wasn't serious just ask yourself this) and than see what you guys will tell, to fuck the christians who do the some as you do in this thread ( just the bitching people )
now back on topic!
I'm christian play the 360, want to play the pc but I am stuck with my mac pro and having to get my drivers license.
I mostly play first person shooters and rpg's and some racing games, and I like the modern/siencefiction thingy in games a lot.
peace

Why doesn't he just say, i'm looking for some cool people to play some games with. I mean it's not like he's just out there playing Christian games, he likes Grand Theft Auto. Like plenty of other people on this forum do.
He even said they don't need to be Christian, but that's besides the point. It's not dividing the community; he's looking for people he can possibly hang out with. Christianity is a social religion and Christians regard each other as brothers and sisters in Christ and are close to each other for reasons typically separate from normal relationships. If he wants to find people who share his beliefs so that they can hang out, I still see no way this could divide the community unless people turn it into an issue when it clearly isn't one. What is wrong with wanting to find other Christians to share interests with? It's not like it's inflammatory to others. If people are offended because they're not included, they have a superiority complex they need to take care of. It's not like it's a White People Only club that denies someone because of some physical trait they were born with. The uproar isn't needed." Just wanted to post this thread to ask if there are any fellow christian gamers on giantbomb?
As a Christian who plays games, I wondered if there was any others on giant bomb that shared my interests in games and also enjoy playing the types of games that I like playing.
So the goal of this thread is my way of trying to grow a community per say and get to know like minded people better. "

Bullshit. Explain these reasons then.
It's sort of like wanting to play with people from your area; you want to find people like you.Why are people living in your area more like you than people living in another country, same with religion, just because you're part of a certain group, does not mean you're similar in any way shape or form. It's not more likely than you being similar to any other other random person anyway.
I still don't see how the two are related, are they gonna play Grand Theft Auto and discuss the bible while they do so? I still see no connection whatsoever. But i'm also starting to see that this discussion isn't going anywhere, so i think i might leave it at this.

It's not more likely than you being similar to any other other random person anyway. This is a very good point. There are quite a few people at my church who I can't really relate to despite their sharing my beliefs. (eg: I'm on of only 4 people at my church who plays video games other than football sims)
Because it isn't... And I'm not being biased or anything I was actually born in Australia, so me saying that is basically treason..." @Mr_Skeleton said:

Look, It's great that the OP wants to play/talk/chat whatever, with some like minded people, But why shun other people, there is a difference with a location thread like that New Zealand one where things like time zones or internet connection can make a difference in the gaming experience, Can you explain to me how my spiritual beliefs are going to make a difference to actually playing games, why create barriers to get to know people, Just because I am an Atheist doesn't mean I don't have Religious friends, And it doesn't mean that I am not a morally bound person, You don't have to be religious to have morals,

Look, as above, good for you for wanting to seek out like minded people, but aren't you on a site with like minded people? We all love gaming, sometimes it's good to get out of your comfort zone and get to know people outside your social/religious norm.
