Chrome added an experimental new picture in picture feature for videos. You get a re-sizable video window that sits on top your other windows. So far it only works with Youtube. Doesn't seem to work with Twitch or the premium player so it doesn't work with GB Infinite or premium videos. Still pretty great.

To enable it you need the beta or nightly(unstable) version of Chrome.

Once you have it installed you need to type chrome://flags into your address bar and then go to

chrome://flags/#enable-picture-in-picture

chrome://flags/#enable-surfaces-for-videos

and change the setting from default to enabled.

It uses the picture in picture spec from the WICG group.

That's pretty neat. Hopefully it will eventually work with other video players as well.

macOS has this as a regular feature for any video and it's great.

Seems like it's up to developers to implement this in their own players, but it probably doesn't make sense for GB engineers to implement it here before the API has settled.

This is cool and useful for laptops when traveling, but I don't see myself using it all that often. It's not much of a stretch to have a second monitor plugged up to anything these days.

I've been using this feature at work, it's a nice discreet way to catch up on some GB videos at work, but it obviously only works for the youtube player, so it can't be used on any premium videos. I know the dev team at CBSi probably has a lot on their plate now but any chance of this being added to the site player now that it's out of beta? Maybe even the live player?

@effache if you "download" a video (so it starts playing in Chrome), you can then access picture-in-picture via right-click or the 3 dots in the bottom right.
