There was an episode of Giant Beastcast where Jeff had some suggestions for comic books/graphic novels.

I think he talked about Batman's The Killing Joke fondly and I think he mentioned Y the Last Man. Anyone know what his other recommendations were or know of the episode in question?

If I recall he spoke highly of Scott Snyder's run of Batman comics which ran from the start of the New 52 branding until wrapping up fairly recently. It's a great series with some fantastic looking art from Greg Capulo. Worth checking out at least the first two volumes in my opinion.

I think you're looking for Episode 39 of the Beastcast, at the email section towards the end. On top of the ones already mentioned, he also talked about Southern Bastards, Deadly Class and We Stand On Guard.

He also mentioned Private Eye, either on the Beastcast or on the 404, and it is also very good!

I will second this. I also just started Paper Girls, which is written by the same guy as Saga, and am enjoying it.

Going to also shout out the work Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips do. Their most recent series Kill or Be Killed has been my go to monthly comic and their previous stuff is A+, which isn't surprising considering the pedigree they both have.

The newest issue of Saga came out last week with a special price of 25 CENTS so you got great timing to sample the wares for cheap.

@ssully: Oh awesome, thanks for mentioning Kill or Be Killed. I am mostly out of comics so had never even heard of it, but I loved Sleeper so much that hearing about something new had me looking it up immediately.

Wow. Those are some good choices. I must have missed that episode.

Saga is amazing, as was Snyder's Batman run.

I am going to give Saga another shot after all the recommendations... I bought the first book which is a bundle of the first issues and read a good portion of it. I found the series to be cheesy and the world to be not of my liking (I don't like the mash up of fantasy and sci fi a la Shadowrun)
