Since Heroes pretty much crapped out after the first season and I just found out they made a series based off of Human Target. I was talking with some friends about which comics and graphic novels would do better as TV shows rather then movies. Here are two I came up with:
The Punisher Max - Garth Ennis' take on The Punisher is more rooted in reality and doesn't feature cameos by any super heroes or villains so I could see a Showtime or HBO series based on the comic.
The Goon - David Fincher of Fight Club fame is supposedly working on a CGI movie but if Adult Swim ever wanted to do another series with non crappy animation like Boondocks or Venture Brothers this comic would be a good fit.
Giant Bomb is under new ownership.

Comic Books that would make better TV series then movies
Y: The Last Man would be a good one, since it's all serialized and whatnot. Be kind of expensive to do, though.
There's probably a thread already like this at GB's sistersite Comic Vine. You'll probably get better input there.
Good question:
Preacher, though I think they tried that and it didn't get off the ground
Y is a very good example of something that would work...movie is in its initial stages.
The Losers; A-Team of the 21st Century.
Sleeper; 24, but actually good.
Powers : coming to FX near you soon
X-men: Always has worked much better as a show, its practically a soap opera anyway.
It has been proven that certain comic book properties were better as TV series than they were as movies.
Case 1: 1977 TV series "The Incredible Hulk" lasted five seasons and is arguably better than the recent movies.
Case 2: 1987 animated TV series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is the most memorable and successful version of the franchise. Also, Bebop and Rocksteady rule.
Case 3: 1966 TV series "Batman" had 102 episodes and Adam West is a much better Batman than any of the others (CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENT).
I don't read comics anymore, so my suggestions will go back about a decade.
- Akira. I saw the movie and it was awesome, but the manga (comic) had soooooo much more in it that I would have preferred (and still hope for) a series version of the story.
- Hellblazer. (aka Constantine) Most of this book was written like a paranormal detective mystery. An X-Files like version of this show could still work provided it was (a) English and (b) competently cast this time.
- Gen-13. This one could work if the producers followed the Buffy format and made it more about the trials and tribulations of high school and less about being a superhero. The New Mutants also might work but that's Marvel and also full of extravagant superpowers. A show like that would require a bigger budget than most networks would be willing to pay. However, Gen-13 are smaller and more flexible since it's a lesser known property. Smallville was like that in the beginning, but high school doesn't last forever and the show has lost its focus since then.
