Sounds pretty cool but i'm just kinda "meh" on tablets. Even if they are like semi- laptops.
Countdown to Microsoft major announcement tonight!
Hmm, seems kind of cool. I don't have a tablet but I might go with this if I were to buy one. Would need to hear reviews from tech duders though.
This is pretty fucking cool, that kickstand and cover/keyboard, although small details, are slick as hell.
Microsoft tablet is somewhat pointless and will be for around a year, it won't have the app support to make it worth buying over an iPad.
That is the harsh reality of the tablet market right now. The only saving grace it has is the laptop transformation stuff, as a standalone tablet it's going to be a bad buy. (talking about Lenovo Yoga etc)

Wouldn't the ivy bridge version technically be able to run any desktop application as well as the metro apps? So, more app support for that than IOS out of the gate.

Okay cool, so RT is Windows 8 for ARM. Thanks!

Well that's true for Windows apps but most of the apps it will run aren't going to play nice with the touchscreen, only with a laptop dock.
I don't think x86 processors are ready for tablets, the 11" MacBook Air only has around 2-3 hours of real battery time and that's in a laptop enclosure, packed into a tablet it's not going to look good if you are selling one with way less battery life than the competition, it'll need to have at least 7 hours I think. The ASUS Transformers have around 15 hours but of course they don't run x86, ARM.

No I didn't because they don't have a fucking stream of it.
Microsoft and Apple do not allow video recording of most of their events, for some reason.
I'm definitely in the market for something like this. Make it run Excel and you've got yourself a customer.

That shit going to flop.
No one is going to waste more money on a MS tablet than buy an iPad. Google tried it already and they still haven't made a dent.
Good luck with that.
I had zero interest in tablets before this because they really filled no purpose for me. I already had a smart phone and a laptop, why do I need a larger version of the phone? If I want the larger screen on my couch I'll use the laptop and I'm not taking either with me on the bus or something. This simply replaces my laptop and adds a little more portability to it.

This is pretty much a spec'd out PC laptop with an ivybridge i5 and full microsoft office, stop being a troll and look at how they both stack up. iPad is a great tablet with tons of developer support, and the surface is a super light laptop that can be transformed into a tablet by just taking off the keyboard skin. If the price is right, this is incredibly interesting to me, a person who doesn't want to buy into the iTunes ecosystem and thinks all android tablets are trash.
