Just got back from the midnight showing of District 9, and it was absolutely awesome. Best movie I've seen all summer, by far.

The only real problem I had was that towards the end it definitely showed its action movie roots. It's not even that big of deal, just personally I wished it had done more documentary stuff, because that was by far the best part of the movie.

Anyone else see it at midnight?

I doubt I'd enjoy it enough to call it the best movie I've seen all summer, but it looks like it could be entertaining. I'll check out soon, and it's great you enjoyed it.

From the trailers @ Apple.com/trailers, it shows a lot of talking.  Does it have more talking or more action?

it has a verrry realistic tone and intensity to it. even if people are just talking a lot, its so damn interesting you'll still be just as entertained.

That's a heavy claim. Be sure you can back that shit up. ;-)

I'd love to see it, but it doesn't come out in the UK for a couple more days.

Star Trek was verrrry satisfying.
The Hurt Locker was absolutely amazing and will be an oscar contender
UP was a brilliant movie and will probably get the oscar as well
Public Enemies was kick ass!
and Watchmen was out in March but i still enjoyed the hell out of it.

so as far as the summer blockbuster popcorn films go this movie was the perfect way to end the summer with a bang. and Star Trek blew me away. ST was really the perfect summer movie for me. Transformers 2 felt like i had just jumped into a  dryer full of pots and pans. and The Hurt Locker is the best movie i've seen this year. I hope it wins best picture. it really is one of the most defining movies of our generation.

Well it wasn't created by Peter Jackson just funded by him, it was directed “aka created by” Neill Blomkamp, so its probably not another King Kong.

Yes King Kong was awful the physics were crap, the girl's neck would have snapped just from the first sudden movement Kong made while holding her, and some how the ropes holding her in the air ripped when Kong grabbed her, it should have ripped her arm and legs apart.

It took them 3 days to get to Kong’s home and then in 30 seconds they were back at the village, and how did they get Kong onto the boat will no large cargo doors or wide open decks?

How did they lift him up in the first place it wasn’t a fishing boat with big nets, just a transport.

I have yet to see the full movie its just so hard to see soooo many huge mistakes happening that Peter Jackson “director of LOTR” did not see, but when Y think of it he wasn’t alone with LOTR, he and many other people created it and they had 15 years of polished LOTR story and history to work with, hahha what did King Kong have to work with :P umm “grrrr must climb building… swin at planes..” HAHA

Also if you go watch one of Peter Jackson’s early films before LOTR…. WTF we watched one of them and…. WTF. one of them was just two girls wanting to die or somthin, it was so bad.

I avoid PJ work ever since KK, also The Tolkien Family that owns LOTR basically told PJ to screw off when he asked to make “The Hobbit” into one single Movie and then make a gap Movie where nothing happened, but PJ was going to make something up.

That’s why recently PJ said they decided it needs to be two separate Movies, haha yeah cause he was embarrassed by the Tolkien Family.

Also PJ has to pay the rights to make “The Hobbit” so even if he shows them a nice script he still has to pay the huge $$$ it went up after King Kong, hmm wonder why lol.

I might actually check “District 9” out, also Peter Jackson didn’t make that “Halo Short Movie” it was the guy that Made this “District 9” Neill Blomkamp, so that’s a good sign.

Also isn't "G.I.Joe" so flawed, this evil villain since the dawn of time wants to destroy the whole world or else, and a military power picking the most misfit people to get super suits, and then they can do every martial art matrix move with the suit, so they can spin jump by missile instead of just moving to the side, and they probably have some disagreement then have to go on their own then they get back together and everyone is so happy and safe now.... oh they were planning on making a sequel, hence the episode name after the title

“Rise of the Cobra” what’s next “Rise of he yet another flawed villain that’s wants to destroy the universe”

hmm I typed a lot... my fingers are burning... time for some "Burnout Paradise"

it's a pretty damn good movie, the whole Nigerian thing was odd though, but that's about the only complaint. This movie should be seen by people... many, many people.

I'd say the first half is a lot of talking and documentary style stuff, but the second half is all action.

If you ask me, I thought the documentary stuff was by far the most interesting stuff of the movie, but about halfway through it just ditched all that and became just another action movie (albeit a good one, mind you).

yes, i thought it was a great movie. it kind of reminded me of cloverfield movie. it just reminded me of it because of how the camera was shaky.  it was a great movie. the aliens reminded me of mass effect, half life series, or some other  video game alien.

Calling Transformers 2 and G.I Joe good, yet not thinking you'll like District 9 as much is utterly hilarious.
