Do bad clothes impact whether you talk to/get to know a person?

Do bad clothes (or particular items of clothing, or hairstyle etc) ever put you off people - ie. put you off wanting to talk to them or put you off wanting to get to know them more?

Japan's Prime Minister's ratings recently dropped in the approval polls because he wore a terrible shirt.

Personally that stuff doesn't bother me that much unless a person looks scruffy or dirty or generally offensive. I've previously expressed my distaste of shorts on these forums, but, hey, one step at a time. Though, really, this allows me a venue for what I really want to rail against: double breasted suits. I believe that as a society we should instill a prohibition on double breasted clothes-ware. That shit should be illegal, yo.

After watching that video I have become convinced that anybody wearing a double breasted suit cannot be trusted. Do not approach these people; consider them dangerous. If you see one of them - turn them in.

Everyone should wear a suit at all time. Barney Stinson has the right idea.

I'm not 100% sure. I think that people who wear branded clothes look as though they have at least made the effort so people appreciate that, well that's what I think other people think.

I wear blazers most of the time, I opened my wardrobe before to find something to wear, it was just a row of blazers because I've not done any washing, so it'll just be a blazer today.

Nothing else.

Nothing.

However it annoys me when I see things like this, politics isn't about policies as much as the personality of those fronting them now.

I'm more likely to talk to/become friends with someone in bad clothes than someone in brand name clothes or suits.

Nice clothes tend to speak "self important wanker" or "trying to hard to be cool" to me.

My thoughts exactly, that shirt is dope! Anyone who says otherwise is either too conservative or has no sense of style/flair.

To answer the question though, yeah I tend to treat people wearing good clothes or at least clean clothes better. In my experience people who wear torn or dirty clothes tend to smell bad...

I've made tons of friends of varied fashionabilities. I think that more than anything clothes speak to how much money you have. I see someone in ratty clothes and I assume they don't have enough money to where buying something nicer is that high on the priorities list, and so I don't make any judgments of their character based on it.

Now when I see someone who obviously intentionally dressed themselves bizarrely, I wonder what it means. Like, I had a classmate who on two consecutive days wore two different shirts with drawings of defecating animals. Why would you do that? I was friends with him, but come on. That's just ridiculous.

That shirt is fucking fantastic!
How can anyone hate him for that?! o.O

I mean: No, I don't care about what you're wearing.
You're probably still an asshole no matter what you're wearing

Not you but people in general :P
You know what, fuck it. You're an asshole too!

I wear raggedy ass thrift store clothes that are random and don't match at all half the time. Most of the time I look like a bum. If someone is enough of a cunt to not want to talk to me just because of how I dress.. then I really don't want to talk to them.

It depends. If you are slovenly then nope. If you are neat, clean etc then yes. Dressing fashionably, nicely does accentuate you. I started going to the gym, haircut, new glasses, dress better etc and girls started to notice me a lot more. Of course I still got dates/laid before, but now it's a lot more common.
