People tend to call me "Miss" alot. Which I really hate seeing as I'm a man.

I don't like being called sir at all. To me it either comes across a subservient or sarcastic, and I don't like either.

I have never called anybody sir. I used to get in trouble at school a lot, as teachers insisted on it when I was growing up in England. But I never did.

Honestly not very much even though I'm in my 30's. I guess I just don't give off a 'authority' vibe to most people. The few times I do get called Mam or Mrs it doesn't bother me. Granted I live in the South Eastern USA where Sir and Mam is just ingrained into how you communicate with people.

Being called sir doesn't bother me, but some random stranger calling me "dude" or "buddy" or "bro" irritates the fuck out of me. Unless you really are a friend of mine, I am not your "dude". Or your buddy. I sure as hell am not your bro...

@hollitz: has nothing to do with being subservient, it’s just respectful. It would be like getting mad that a man opens a door for a woman, it’s a respect thing, something this world sorely needs.

I get called "sir" now and then and I like it. Adulthood is all about racking up those sweet "sir"s.

Get called sir sometimes, doesn't really bother me. I figure they're just being polite.

Does not bother me at all. It's just useful for a language to have a polite way of addressing someone you don't know. Besides, it makes me feel like I've been granted knighthood.

Maybe it is my age, but I totally agree.

I used to call people "Chief," and people called me, "Boss."
